Regarding you mention Revolt Chat. I checked it out, but it has absolutely no information about it. There's no "About-page", I found some kind of revolt wiki, but it is not accessible/the server is down. I found the wiki through web-search. It should be linked from the home page. I will never use a service that doesn't explain what it is. That's why I love GrapheneOS, it has the most comprehensive about page, FAQ, feature list, roadmap etc. I have ever seen. I never doubted supporting GrapheneOS since they seemed really solid.

aiss session was very very problematic when I last used it. They store messages in a blockchain, which makes no sense. You cannot delete messages, in the past if you restored your profile (or got hacked) every message was appearing again.

Checkout SimpleX, that is a great piece of software

missing-root Your messages aren't stored in the blockchain, they use the blockchain to build three-hop routes, it's just that your traffic is multi-hopped through the blockchain.

missing-root They store messages in a blockchain, which makes no sense.

Your statement is incorrect. Please read through the app's website, especially https://getsession.org/faq. Under the "Messaging" section in the link is the question Are my messages stored on a blockchain? and the answer to it is No, your messages are not stored on a blockchain. Messages are stored by swarms, and are deleted after a fixed amount of time (called the “time-to-live”, or TTL). All of your messages are encrypted, and can only be decrypted using the private key which is stored locally on your device.

I suppose they fixed the bug that was occuring maybe 2y ago, where the messages where not autodeleted.

The current method may be better but it is still a workaround. Afaik such a swarm is a blockchain, isnt it? Its just maybe compartimentalized to allow that time-based deletion.

It seems Session is okay to use then.

missing-root Like I said, give the website a read through and you'll have all of the ins and outs of the app instead of assumptions and speculations.

        Hello,

How is it intended to report issues, bugs, change requests, ideas, etc. for GOS here? I've noticed there's very few tags in the discussions, "general" and "development", so is it supposed to use "development" for any kind?

        Please advise.
        Thank you & best regards

Thank you for the information, I missed reading/keeping that in mind, I'm sorry.
So issues, change requests, etc. posted here in this forum, are generally being ignored? At least by GOS "officials"?

TRInvictus not ignored. I suppose the best way to answer this is there are a lot of people who make requests, but very few who help actually work on and maintain features.

Some features would be added if done well by community members. The project developers are busy with other high priority privacy and security improvements.

I've never used Matrix, but would like to join the platform. Trying to register with Element isn't working for me. When I go to enter graphene.os as the server, it says registration has been disabled. Am I doing something wrong?

Makrus the GrapheneOS matrix server doesn't have open registration. You'd want to register an account elsewhere then join the GrapheneOS rooms from that account. Many people use the matrix.org homeserver, including myself.

You can try registering at https://app.element.io then join the community after you make an account.

The community address: https://matrix.to/#/%23community:grapheneos.org or search #community:grapheneos.org and then join from there.

TRInvictus So issues, change requests, etc. posted here in this forum, are generally being ignored?

No, we do not ignore them. However, if you take a look at how we structure our tags on the forum here https://discuss.grapheneos.org/tags verses the labels on our os-issue-tracker https://github.com/GrapheneOS/os-issue-tracker/labels you may notice that the actual work is all done via our GitHub.

For example, feature requests are labelled as enhancements here https://github.com/GrapheneOS/os-issue-tracker/labels/enhancement

So, the appropriate platform to attempt to do a feature request/enhancement, would be where our developers are primarily spending their time, which is GitHub.

Please, always search our issue trackers prior to opening a new issue, more than likely there is a similar one already, and this avoids duplicates.

                At least by GOS "officials"?

We may discuss these matters in user posted threads, redirect to proper issue-trackers on our project, link to specific issue #'s, etc.

Edit: Meant to start of by saying that I'm adding onto what other8026 already mentioned.

                @akc3n @other8026
Thank you both for replying. I do comprehend, sadly there aren't enough very very smart guys out there able, and willing, to contribute to GOS.
And hey we all do understand you're working hard and foccussed on "IPC control" we're all soooo much looking forward to :-) Thank you all for your work, very much appreciated!

I seen on the social X some profiles are taken by the project to avoid impersonators. Is there some kind of signature to prove a profile is genuine ?
