grapheine I was able to create a Discord account with only an email address fine, so it sounds a bit hit and miss.

Same here. I registered on my phone while connected to a well-known VPN and just provided a SimpleLogin email alias to register. I was never asked for a phone number. Stumbled across a thing in the settings that tells you what your account standing is, and my account has an "all good" standing.

treequell sorry! You're right. I was trying to create an account through an invite link for a service provider. I created one through discord.com and was able to verify through email!

christiee the menu bar with all the circular icons? That one should go away if you tap somewhere else. If it doesn't, that's an issue with Element, not GrapheneOS.

Simply comment that, whatever platform you choose, it becomes very difficult to follow a conversation when they respond to you from another because a lot of garbage appears introduced by the manager.
In my opinion you should choose a platform and use only one.

[deleted] It sounds like you're referring to the bridge software being used. Currently, Discord is unique in that the experience there is significantly better. We initially had the bridge set up the way it is right now, but had to go back to the way it's done on other platforms due to some issues.

A community member has created a patch for the bridge software to fix these issues, so Discord is now back to using webhooks for the bridge. I encourage you to give the Discord side a shot (I believe you might already be in there) and see how you like it now.

Regarding you mention Revolt Chat. I checked it out, but it has absolutely no information about it. There's no "About-page", I found some kind of revolt wiki, but it is not accessible/the server is down. I found the wiki through web-search. It should be linked from the home page. I will never use a service that doesn't explain what it is. That's why I love GrapheneOS, it has the most comprehensive about page, FAQ, feature list, roadmap etc. I have ever seen. I never doubted supporting GrapheneOS since they seemed really solid.

aiss session was very very problematic when I last used it. They store messages in a blockchain, which makes no sense. You cannot delete messages, in the past if you restored your profile (or got hacked) every message was appearing again.

Checkout SimpleX, that is a great piece of software

missing-root Your messages aren't stored in the blockchain, they use the blockchain to build three-hop routes, it's just that your traffic is multi-hopped through the blockchain.

missing-root They store messages in a blockchain, which makes no sense.

Your statement is incorrect. Please read through the app's website, especially https://getsession.org/faq. Under the "Messaging" section in the link is the question Are my messages stored on a blockchain? and the answer to it is No, your messages are not stored on a blockchain. Messages are stored by swarms, and are deleted after a fixed amount of time (called the “time-to-live”, or TTL). All of your messages are encrypted, and can only be decrypted using the private key which is stored locally on your device.

I suppose they fixed the bug that was occuring maybe 2y ago, where the messages where not autodeleted.

The current method may be better but it is still a workaround. Afaik such a swarm is a blockchain, isnt it? Its just maybe compartimentalized to allow that time-based deletion.

It seems Session is okay to use then.

missing-root Like I said, give the website a read through and you'll have all of the ins and outs of the app instead of assumptions and speculations.

              Hello,

How is it intended to report issues, bugs, change requests, ideas, etc. for GOS here? I've noticed there's very few tags in the discussions, "general" and "development", so is it supposed to use "development" for any kind?

              Please advise.
              Thank you & best regards
