Similar issue, one moment you're talking, the next you can't hear the other person, sometime the call is dropped for no reason. this happens on both the Wi-Fi call and mobile provider.

Massive problems with calls
AloofChocolate For me it is only mobile provider, but then I have not tried wifi via the calls app. Glad to know I am not the only one.
Sorry to hear that you've been having problems with carrier-based calls. In the vast majority of cases, they work on GrapheneOS just like on stock Pixel OS., but there are a few exceptions. In the first instance I suggest reading through the following section of the usage guide, it includes further information and some troubleshooting steps: https://grapheneos.org/usage#carrier-functionality
Same problem here with Pixel 6. Sometimes the last thing I hear before the silence, is like a "bad mp3" sound effect. Than silent and later (like 3 sec) the line cut off. I can reproduce very easily.
I have the same problem. There are two persons I frequently call, and they haven't been able to hear me for the last month, even though I hear them fine. Today I put the SIM-card in my old phone, and they could finally hear me. It only happens while calling a phone number, so other applications are not affected.
Both people I call and it doesn't work use iPhones, version 12 and 13. But calling a newer iPhone works. Too small of a sample size though. And I should ask them what carriers they use too.
treequell Thanks, I will try to do the two resets suggested there, although I tried to boot up in safe mode before without success.
luddevig sometumes these issues have a very obvious explanation like forgetting to grant microphone permission (even if it is set to Allow while using the app, but in the meantime you turned the quick toggle off for another app) so make sure go through all the options that come to mind. Try seaching Settings for related options.
I'm really at a loss, and I can't afford to keep not being able to make normal phone calls, so I'm not sure what to do. Signal / messenger calls works fine, but I can't ask contractors and others to use that, so my work around is my old phone.
I've tried to boot up in safe mode and it still didn't work, so it shouldn't be because of a third party app.
I've tried to call with all kinds of microphones connected, so it's not on the mic.
I even tried to use the Google phone app, to see if it was a setting within the normal phone app, but it still acts the same. When in a call there isn't many settings at all, so that wasn't really a surprise.
One time it worked fine on a phone that it hadn't worked with before, but when I locked up the phone to check something while still in the call, the one i was calling couldn't hear my voice anymore. And before it was like half the calls i tried to make that didn't work, now it's almost everyone.
I've went through all possible settings in the phone that I could think of, but it either has to be some super weird setting that I haven't read about on that Graphene page, or it's something broken somewhere.

I don't really get what you mean by quick toggle off? I did do a call in safe mode, without any other apps open, without my mic working. Could there still have been another app toggling off the mic permissions for the call?
I'm removing all apps installed within the last three months now to see if anything improves.
Wasn't allowed to edit my last message, but: Removed Whatsapp and Salto Homelok, and now it works! Both installed at around the same time, so could really be either.
luddevig I saw your reply in the meantime and I honestly started to think it was my vicinity that was at fault
DeletedUser69 I like this community and despite my join date, I have been around a "bit" longer (hello mods, I hope you're doing okay). For security look no futher than Gr4ph3n305 and for privacy Gr4ph3n305, that just about says it all. All opinions in this post are my own, AI can zuck off. And last but not least, sorry for being off topic. Have a gr8 day!
Strange, I had more problems with calls with the stocks OS that I ever did with Graphene. Most of the issue I have now seems linked to weather events, like high winds.
And some weird pattern that I want to look deeper into. I have seen a few hard to define anomalies that seems related to some data being received by IMS prior to said anomaly. Might just be a misconfigured tower or the nature of 4G/5G network itself. There are likely more efficient ways to do this but you might want to have a look at the system logs, I used "ims" as filter. The output is not that overwhelming on desktop.
I would call the carrier, from my experience they tend to play dumb and still change a few settings in the background regardless.

I reinstalled my Salto Homelok (because I need to be able to lock my door), and the problem reemerged. So at least we know it has nothing to do with Whatsapp.
Got a tag for locking the door now and will try to live without the Salto app for a while to see if the app really is the issue. Most probable is that it's the Salto app that does something with Android, and nothing really Graphene related.
I thought that if the mic is turned off, no one can use it. What's the solution for this?
And does is it the same issue for the camera and location as well?
Having issues as well.
I have a physical sim and an E-sim active, and I can't receive calls on either. When someone calls me, they hear "this number does not exist" on the physical sim, and they hear "this number is not available at this moment" on the E-sim. I can call others normally, however.
Using a Pixel 7a with a Vodafone e-sim.

Hi Michael,
is your physical SIM from a reseller aka discounter, I mean a provider without its own cell network?
Maybe a new one on the market? Then sometimes it is possible, that your phone number isn't reachable from every other network, as long as not all providers have updated their databases.
Or it's much easier: this physical SIM card is a little bit older or you have touched the SIM's chip contacts while you had the SIM card in the drawer. This can result in a static discharge, which damages the chip. Although this is rare, it cannot be completely ruled out.
First mentioned case can also be the reason for the error message from your eSIM.
Have you already checked the call forwarding settings in your Pixel phone?
You can find them in the phone app. These can also change after inserting a new SIM card or activating a new eSIM profile!
So even if you've already checked them before, it's better to check them now again.
Good luck!

MichaelJohn Same issue here also with Vodafone Germany and physical Sim. But if I call immediately again (my partner who has also Vodafone Germany) it works normaly
ZoraIsHere yep, same here. I can call others but I cannot be called.
Eagle_Owl thank you for the effort post. I tried to access the call forwarding settings on both SIMs, and on both, after some time loading, it ultimately gives me a "SIM access error".
You're right about one of the SIMs being brand new in the market (in this case, Digi), that's the physical Sim, and I'm not so concerned about that one.
The one that concerns me is Vodafone, because it's well established in my country and worse, it's my main number. It's an eSIM, so it's extra inconvenient that it's giving me issues. It's the phone number I have for all my banks also.

Since we are not seeing widespread reports of this and there are a lot of GrapheneOS users in Germany I wonder what is different about your circumstances.
Have you removed permissions from or disabled any system apps? Have you made any changes to your phone via adb? Any other unusual/invasive changes you have made, like changing dev options, rooting ?
