westie Unless your bank does their own NFC, most banks rely on either Apple Pay or Google Pay. I haven't been able to find any third party NFC payment app yet

I'm located in Germany and even though Stocard advertise Germany as a supported country, I am unable to find any reference to pay in the app. I downloaded the app off the Play Store. Shame!

If you're in Germany, Sparkasse's stand-alone NFC payment app works without Google Pay. Unfortunaately I'm not a customer of theirs. According to Finanztip, Sparkassen and Volksbanken are the only banks in Germany offering their own NFC enabled payment apps.

To use Stocard to pay you need to opt in for their own card which the app will use for Payments. It doesn't work as a front end.

If that isn't the issue you may find the relevant setting in Owner under NFC settings where a NFC for Payments setting is usually greyed out.

      MetropleX

According to their FAQs a tab called "Pay" should be visible in the bottom navigation (see example here). My understanding is opting in for their own card is only possible within the "Pay" tab.

Unfortunately that's not the case on my Pixel 6 even though I am in Germany and thus should be supported.

I am unable to find the relevant setting you mentioned in Owner. Could you be more specific on where to find this setting? Is it in the Stocard app?

Today I tried the new Google Wallet App. While it requested additional permissions for the Play services, it also didn't work. After adding a card the app complained that the device seems rooted or otherwise insecure and stopped the process of adding the card. Is there a way to get Google Wallet working on GOS?

tobru no as Google Pay/Wallet require full SafetyNet compliance, while GrapheneOS can pass BasicIntegrity the OS cannot pass ctsProfileMatch as that would require GrapheneOS to be whitelisted by Google.

Before the idea of bypassing the checks is brought up though as some other OSes or Root methods might allow. Please read the following: https://nitter.net/freechelmi/status/1553326311854276608#m

        a month later

Stocard are no longer offering payment functionality via a dedicated card of their own, according to the change log of their latest update to the app:

We’re saying goodbye to payment. Stocard is still here. We’re just focusing on helping you to collect your loyalty cards in one app while working with Klarna to bring you more smoooth ways to pay.

What a shame. This probably explains why I wasn't able to find any reference to payment a month ago.

I'm curious if any of the global banks like N26, Revolut or Openbank have working NFC payments on GrapheneOS. Is anyone using any of these banks?

Some French banks support Paylib for NFC contactless payments. I'm using Paylib myself and it works well with GrapheneOS.

I've been playing a bit with the banks I mentioned above. So far I've tried Revolut and Openbank and I'm happy to report that Openbank works on GoS without Google Play Services, including NFC payments. The app gives 'this app requires Google Play Services' popups on some screens, but everything works.

It does behave a little odd, where it initially rejects the transaction until I unlock the phone, even though in system settings I've disabled that the device needs to be unlocked for NFC to work. But maybe this is just a requirement of the Openbank app, I'm not sure.

I got a Garmin watch with Garmin pay, The watch has an NFC chip in it. Solved the problem for me so I thought I'd mention it even though it's technically not what you're looking for.

Fitbit has similar option as Garmin - NFC chip on some of their watches, does not even need to be synced to phone to make payments.

Is there a way to run Samsung Pay on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4/5?

Unfortunately we can't use Samsung pay on pixel....

Wonderfall Paylib still function for contacless payments? I thought they disable this function to be only a friend to frien payment app?

            Just sharing my findings here.
I tried today using Curve Pay (downloaded from Huawei store manually) Here is a guide on how to download apk from huawei store without using their gallery app store.
            https://aiomobilestuff.com/how-to-download-an-apk-from-appgallery-on-your-computer/
OR direct download APK url for Curve Pay https://appgallery.cloud.huawei.com/appdl/C102372409

It starts up all fine, can log in, set up, retrieve account details, see transaction history and so on.
It popups asking for HMS Core (I guess it's similar to Google services, since it's called Huawei mobile services) and this can be easily tapped away.
There is a button that pops up asking to activate Curve Pay, upon pressing this button it just spins and spins, and nothing happens.

I will try later today in another profile to install HMS Core and Curve to see if it's possible that way, and also after that to try to uninstall HMS Core.

JayJay I'm pretty sure you need to install HMS Core Services and cannot be uninstalled and continue to use Curve Pay.
Sincerly, I'm not much confident from Google but much less on Huawei.
I think the best solution is to find a bank that implements in their app the pay services, like BBVA, Openbank and maybe others...
