mgeo i don't think that they use play services for nfc but for other stuff. For developers who are not that into foss etc. its easier to just use play services because its the default way in lot of guides/documentation. Check the official documentation for how to setup sanboxed play services. There are lot of other useful/interesting info about graphneneos as well. https://grapheneos.org/usage#sandboxed-google-play
Gpay alternatives for grapheneos?
Zoningg It's just too weird that neither the Curve or Lydia from Huawei store work on GrapheneOS. I thought their NFC pay function is "universal". For lydia could @Ganipote paste some screenshots on what you see, I sent them an email and asked them for the NFC pay function specifically for GrapheneOS.
@mgeo Yes, it will work only for payments inside of russia.
Same applies to MirPay, SberPay, etc. These are all internal russian services.

I am not running graphene but I had the same infinite loading issue. I was able to solve it by temporarily changing my phones region to Iceland, i am running a phone with play service tho but the app was installed from huawey app store, so it is kinda a mishmash. But the region thing may be the key
NFC payments works, any bank / neobank app with their own independent NFC gateway will work, I have at least 3 bank apps that work with GrapheneOS.
Problem with this approach is that is very country limited and you need to stick with that bank whether or not their card is the best for your personal needs.
The only service to my knowledge that is close to a universal card gateway like Google Wallet is CurvePay. But they won't activate it for GrapheneOS unless we lobby them into realizing that there is a good niche business in supporting this OS.
Cloaked has said that they plan to add the ability to have NFC payments on graphene.

I have used Garmin pay with my watch.

And how do we do that?

thequint I use 'Digitales Bezahlen' as mobile payment in Germany. Works with Sparda Bank.

[deleted] Same. I've switched over to one of the banks supporting Digitales Bezahlen. Has been working perfectly ever since.
LazyM49 That's interesting. Where did you download the apk from (is it from this, https://appgallery.cloud.huawei.com/appdl/C102372409 ?) ? and how did you change the phone region? I thought it required some Huawei core function things
So now you can just open the curve app and tap your phone ?
Audacity0780 which are these 3 banks? I'm looking all over for banks like this. I could get a number if it's that what they require
mgeo the app description lists the supported banks.
mgeo it wants the BIC code of german bank, you cannot proceed by entering something else. Plus it needs right to manage calls.
andrej567 and you cannot enter N26 bic
