I've been having similar issues using Google Messages app - not the stock one. Past couple of days, MMS cannot send - mostly to IOS users (will be testing this further over the weekend). For me, a phone reboot fixes the issue for a bit - then it starts again. I need to test more to be able to supply useful info.
smokey_graphene that is so weird, I really did not do anything special and it works for me. Just had a 25 minute drive home and had no issues. No crashes, no disconnects. I use Waze for navigation, and it worked as it should.
Hopefully someone else can chime in and offer help
Does AA crash, or just turn off ? There is a setting for when private space closes. Believe default is every time device locks. I set mine to only after device restarts and I manually close when I am done with the private space.
AA USB wired works well for me in Private Space. I'm on a Pixel 8.
I got around the issue by first giving the Quick app sensors permission. Then it let me set the app as my default messaging app - and then I completed my set up

Just a quick update. By allowing sensors permission to the Quick Messaging app I was able to set as default app and finish set up. Once set up, I went back to remove sensors just to see and app works as it should. I did download and install the app through Obtanium

I've had no issues on my P8 to set the permission on the default messaging app that comes with GOS. I am on 2024102100.
I have the same issue trying to use alternate apps like Quick, etc.
Can also confirm that Google messages with play services running does allow the permission.

It is not a GOS issue, it is Android 15. Quick has not been updated to run on Android 15 by its developer so we get that message.
Something weird going on for you. I just installed on my 7a still running A14 and have no issues.
Are you running a custom DNS ?
Did something change with your set up ? Just installed RBC app from the playstore on my P8 running alpha release of Android 15.
App works without issue - just had to enable exploit protection compatibility mode in the app settings. But have had to do that for a while now to get the app to work.
Rogers in Canada - zero issues with RCS.
Few years back was looking for an alternate OS as I found my phones were too busy or loud with apps I did not want, or background services always active, etc. I was not looking to de-google at the time but oddly enough found GOS through a de-googled web search ?
I go back and forth between all FOSS apps, to playstore with a few basic must have apps. Looking for that perfect mix that fits me.
I am currently not using google photos, but when I was I had to give network permission to allow the app to download magic eraser editing tool - then revoke network, and it remained active locally on my phone.
There is a new version in the GOS app store in alpha release, so it must be in testing.
But to answer your question, yes I did have the same message prior to updating to the alpha release
As soon as someone I know gets IOS 18 I can confirm. Has not dropped here yet, family members just got 17.7
Wouldn't it appear as MMS on android since IOS does not have encryption as part of their RCS implementation ?

RCS group messaging works on android for me
LordDrakkon Rogers Canada has been great with their RCS implementation - very few hiccups.
lcalamar the main reason I searched out and found GOS a few years back was not so much to de-google, but reduce the noise. Much more control on GOS with permissions, etc. Set the phone the way I want.
