I had a similar problem with a couple of apps (no error message displayed) but I had denied the "Network" Permission. Once I enabled the "Network" permission, the maps displayed properly in the apps.

A little OFF topic, but I thought some may find it useful...
I just tried to Cast my screen to my Chromecast device and also get "No nearby devices were found."

I have a Pixel Stand 2.0 and also found that when I side loaded the Pixel Stand APK, the Pixel Stand App does not work.
Google Play store says the Google Pixel Stand Apk is not available for my Pixel 7 Pro with GrapheneOS installed.
I wonder why it is not available and why sideloading the Pixel Stand app from APKMirror does not work?

I use the default GrapheneOS Messaging app for SMS. It is set at the Default SMS app (Settings, then Apps, then Default apps, then SMS app).
I have the Signal app installed for the Signal app features. Signal is not set up as the Default SMS app.
