  • Experimental GrapheneOS support for the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro

GrapheneOS now has experimental support for the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro as part of our 2022101600 release. It can be installed with our easy to use web installer or the more traditional CLI install guide. The experimental releases are production builds with the full GrapheneOS feature set and working over-the-air updates to future GrapheneOS releases. They're experimental because very little testing has been done beyond verifying that the basics work but we're not yet aware of any issues.

Wow this was super fast! Thanks to the maintainers and all the contributors to GOS <3

Holy cow, this is great news. I have the 7, but wonder if I should wait for the Auditor support...?

waterturkey Auditor support for both devices is available in Auditor v63. It just isn't bundled with the initial release. You'll receive an automatic update to Auditor v63 through the app repository client.

Thanks for the info. I'd like to join the #testing:http://grapheneos.org , but I get the following error:

#testing:http://grapheneos.org is not accessable at this time. Try again later, or ask a room or space admin to check if you have access. M_INVALID_PARAM was returned while trying to access the room or space. If you think you're seeing this message in error, please submit a bug report.

Also, would you hold off on installing on a primary device at this time?

waterturkey It's #testing:grapheneos.org. There's no http scheme. It looks like you copy pasted it from Twitter which screws that up because it turns the grapheneos.org domain into a URL.

Thanks for this excellent work. Pixel 7 being so fresh (maybe with some bugs), do you recommend to wait a bit to update any hw firmware from Google first and then migrate, or you get these automatically with GOS as well?

Can i just update this experimental build to stable, once its released and continue using it without reinstalling? Is it fine to install and switch to stable or is it just an other name for stable because its just released? Or do i benefit in any way from waiting for the "final version"?

My p7 should arrive today :)

Hi, are there any new or better features on the Pixel 7 (and the Pixel 7-GrapheneOS) regarding privacy and security?

TheCrow maybe mention face unlock, which can just be used for unlock and not for authenticating gpay, etc.
and 32 bit app support is disabled on stock. no idea how gos handles it tho...

Can I switch to the stable version once the stable version is available later?

Is it similar to an alpha, beta, or is it even less stable?

I am contemplating getting a pixel 7 to use grapheneos, but i would like to know what features available on a stock one i would lose by switching to grapheneos, so that i can make an informed decision and not be disapointed, since i wouldn't by a pixel to use it stock.

If the experimental build is out now can we anticipate a beta build in 4 weeks?

Are there any good systems from moving from a Pixel 6 Pro to the 7 Pro as far as moving your content and setup over automatically? Or do you just need to backup and restore things on a case by case basis? Thank you guys for all that you do! Made a donation today and will continue to do so as I can!

Keulz apps that require certified OS (ctsprofilematch) will not work. Gpay tap to pay doesn't work. Android Auto functionality will not work.
