I'm excited both about the upcoming Pixel Tablet and that GOS has announced support for it. I will likely be testing it upon release (but buy it from a store with generous refund policies) and exploring whether it can become a more secure alternative for web browsing and document editing compared to my computer. (Assuming Bluetooth keyboard and mouse will be working well).

What are your thoughts on the new tablet? Are you likely to buy it and flash GOS on it?

And here's how to donate to GOS for device testing:

As soon as the team announces that the product is in alpha, I order the tablet and flash grapheneOS on it.
It will replace my computer for all sensitive uses.
I would have liked a 4/5G support for the tablet, but never mind.

A bit expensive in my country too, compared to other countries. It's far from the 499$ announced in the US.

      741$ for me, and i want the 256GB's version, so 872$ :/
And I don't like the white or green that is proposed as color...

I think the price is grotesquely too high for the Tablet. Honestly, this will be a huge flop for them if they stick with this price point. People can get a brandnew iPad for 100€ or more less, whilst in the android field you can get similar tablets like this pixel tablet for 50% of Googles fantasy price.

I really hoped for a price below 400€, but for the over 600€ they want i will buy an iPad once my old ones battery is fully dead.

I could never justify spending that much money on an android tablet, specially as i know both, iOS and Android. And for a stationary tool like a tablet (i use mine only at home) in all honesty, iOS is lightyears ahead of Android. Onlyif it is a third of the iPad price you can oversee all the downsides, but for more money it would be self-humiliation to buy the Pixe Tablet.

I am not even sure if the Graphene Team will waste time on supporting the tablet, as the number of users will be very limited or close to zero. The phones were cheaper, so many more possible users that could make a switch to Graphene. But the tablet? I think it will be another one year product of google and will be abandoned very soon.

Yes, it's relatively pricey, and competition is hard.

I don't know where you live, but certainly around my area (around Northern Europe) you cannot get a brand-new iPad for under the equivalent of 400€. Not even a refurbished one will go for under 100€.
Anyway, was just informed I won't get a salary next month, so that's actually nay for me at this time. :-)

Yes but the difference is your ipad wont be private! I do agree the price tag seems expensive but i for one am excited about having a GOS tablet. I was about to start learning Linux as far as laptops etc go but now will just wait for the GOS tablet.

This is news to me. In the bad old days of being a huge Apple fan I loved the iPad. I still have one, but since I cancelled my Apple account/ID the thing is almost useless.

I'm happy with a Pixel 6A and a windows 10 laptop with no microsoft account, but if the tablet worked well with GOS I would be tempted. However, Australian prices are way above US so it sounds expensive. Mind you, I paid $1300AU for the iPad and that was about my fifth ipad, I was really stupid in those days.

Just found out the Australian price is $900, well I paid $600 for a Pixel 6A, so that's not to bad. I like the charging station/speaker but wonder if it can be charged without the dock.
Is there anyone near Tasmania that can install GOS? (before you clever people tell me how easy it is, not for me it ain't!!0

eyeCrap is a pointless comparison, since it is not a substitutable product. For my uses, it is absolutely WORTHLESS. If somebody GAVE me one, I'd bend it in half and chuck it in the trash.

And "similar" android tablets aren't unlockable, which makes them useless as well.

Too big for me. I'm always looking for 7-8 inch size tablet. Seems to be fewer and fewer of that size being made.

        a month later

The last time I bought an ipad (and it was the last time ever) I paid $AU1300. The pixel tablet is $AU900 here, and if all my apps on the pixel phone work as well it would a great addition. It could easily replace my windows laptop.
The only problem I see is the Aurora Store. I'd like to see that fixed before I buy another device with Graphene OS (which is really fantastic)

I don't think the price is that high compared with an iPad with equivalent memory.

MineralWater I don't think like you at all. You compare it to an iPad, but an ipade is not sold with a dock that makes a speaker. What's more, with equivalent memory and power, it's the same price at Apple, and the pixel tablet is even cheaper if you take out the price of the dock. Google isn't going to abandon the picole tablet, since it will eventually replace the nest tablet.

I haven't played with Pixel Tablet yet and I don't expect it to be a full replacement for iPad. That said, it's amazing to be able to use a larger screen while enjoying the security of GrapheneOS. To me it's a huge deal 🌷

Does anyone know if the tablet can be charged with a USB or USBC cable as well as the dock? I wouldn't fancy carting the speaker around to charge it when on the road or away from home.
