This is an awesome update! I will finally be able to transfer Google Cam from my work profile to my main profile. This will make photo management easier, for I won't need another gallery app in my work profile and transfer photos to and fro.

Thank you. I get the impression the e sim restrictions will help isolate the device further, which is helpful.

Sorry for perhaps a dumb question - is it a stable update?
For some reason on my Pixel 7 when I press "Check for updates" I am getting "Device is up-to-date" notification, while having an older "2023032600" in build number.
I guess the new update should have arrived via on the air update mechanism?

thetraveller1 All updates go through Alpha > Beta > Stable channels. It's the same update going through all of the channels, and it just get tested by people using the alpha channel first, beta after that, and then it's finally added to stable.

Dialer: add modernized call recording implementation using modern Android storage (no files permission) and with unnecessary cruft removed including not locking availability or playing a recording tone based on region (users are responsible for respecting regional laws including informing the other party or obtaining explicit consent if required)

This is huge! Any further details on this?

matchboxbananasynergy I wonder if it might make sense for the each release announcement to briefly state this, and to remind people how to set their channel in Settings. New users arrive all the time, and this question recurs.

Auto-reboot feature may be useful for some people, but enabled by default?
Many are PIN protecting the SIM cards and an auto-reboot causes phone innaccessible until SIM unlocked

[deleted] I am also unsure about this one. I find it very important to reboot the device once in a while but at least the first unexpected reboot may cause some people looking for their SIM-PIN excitedly.

Themble It doesn't make sense for me to automate something as important as a reboot, which can have many effects.
Will the reboot be when you are not using the phone? Is it when I'm in the middle of something important? when you are walking and listening to music?
I certainly don't see the point

[deleted] In the settings it says: "Automatically reboot the device if it hasn't been unlocked within the selected duration of time."

[deleted] The auto-reboot features default value is set to 72 hours (3 days) and you're free to change it to a shorter one or disable it completely.
Since the auto-reboot feature is going to reboot your device only after it hasn't been unlocked for the set time period it won't really have any effect on your important tasks. After you've unlocked your device the timer resets again.
Your phone will only reboot if you haven't unlocked it for 3 days by default so the scenarios you're worried about aren't really going to happen.

Does this mean I can delete GCam Services Provider once the update hits the stable channel?
