What do you think of Accrescent app store?

stupidcreature The point is that Accrescent is still not practical for daily use. Give me an app store where I can find most of the apps I need so I can ditch Obtanium! See? That's the problem.

I use the Droid-Ify app to search for new apps, then I use the included URL to the source code website (GIT) in order to install the app through Obtainium, this way I can avoid F-Droid installations, but merely use them as a way to browse through apps, not as an installation source.

This is terrible news. I don't see accrescent being able to sustain that level of donations. @GrapheneOS will accrescent be removed from GOS if it cannot reach its fundraising goal?

Thanks for sharing this. I'm curious about the financial target. If the current expenses are roughly $50/month, why is the target $5,800? That's a big leap. Are the donations for a developer salary or something else?

Overlay1404 This is correct. It is mostly to cover full-time development work since server expenses are relatively low, although we expect them to grow over time. I've only been able to work on Accrescent in my free time for the most part until now which has held back its development.

I read that as: $50/month keeps the servers running, but does not pay developers (and would not pay for servers if there were lots more apps and lots more users).

Are there plans for GrapheneOS and Accrescent to merge (financially, during development, or even as orginazations)? Accrescent is already included in the GrapheneOS App Store.

Guys, we are all still in a very niche community. We all have very similar goals. We aren't supported by the mainstream, because the mainstream doesn't give a damn about security and privacy. (Some tell you they do, but ... they don't!)
So I want to encourage everyone who can afford a few dollars, euros or whatever currency to just support all these incredible people who create these wonderful pieces of software we all love and which make us feel safe.
I'll happily donate monthly! (But please not Github, so I'll have to wait for a better option 🙁)

Google Play Store is the worst; it cannot download apps from other countries and regions.

For example, there are rumors that an EU directive requires all phone bootloaders to be locked as of August 1!!!!????!!??? If there is evidence about the Accrescent store rejecting whatever, how about sharing the evidence?

tac does ironfox rely on play services? i just downloaded it from accrescent and a) its crashing on cold launch b) has dcl from storage permission by default as it says it relies on play services.

i would have thought accrescent apps dont rely on play services.

Ejd186 Not sure why you're asking me specifically. It might use Google APIs (Firebase Cloud Messaging aka FCM) for notifications but Unified Push can be used instead. For the record, I have the latest version as of now (142.0.1 of Aug 30, 2025) installed directly from the GitLab repository (with Obtainium) and it's working well, not crashing on me at all. I can't speak what's on Accrescent but I think it's likely to be the same build, so that shouldn't be a factor.

Its idea is good, however until it gets more apps, its just okay.
If FOSS devs actually put their apps into it (especially with the changes to the Google play services and IDs) it could be an excellent alternative to pretty much anything else, potentially rivaling the security of play store.
They are in a strange place, they need more apps, but devs are not pushing to it (likely cause of the low user base), which needs more apps to increase.
Regardless, it should be your first point for apps.

It's mediocre. How many times do I have to hit the update button before an update happens. I update, it downloads, then nothing happens. Over and over we go.
