  • Dubz use Private Space or create a work profile through Shelter and there you have your 3 copies of the messaging app.

    • On stock android your imei is sent to google when you connect to the internet (before you sign in to a google account).
On grapheneos sandboxed google play does not have access to your imei. If you use e-sim a privileged app google has access to your imei.
If you use google fi, google has access to your imei.

      • Fake GPS location permission, something like storage scopes but let's call it location scopes. The idea is that when the location access prompt pops up, you can choose location scopes and then set a specific location (of your choosing ofc) so that the app thinks that the gps is on and that it knows where you are but in reality it doesn't. Kinda like the location mocking on developer settings but not system wide, rather on an app by app basis, with the ability of being able to chose different location for different apps. Where could that be useful, you might ask. In cases when the app doesn't give you ANY functionality at all if you decline location access (for example the Google app where if you don't provide it with your location all the time it won't work for the weather widget, personal scooter apps that require location for basic functionality like changing the regenerative breaking strength, and plenty others)

      • As much as I want to like user profiles, they have some glaring inconveniences that would be problematic at least for me. The first is notifications - while there is now notification forwarding, it seems to never show notification content, even if the content would be available on the lock screen. Switching between user profiles is also a big pain requiring many extra interactions (swipe down to get the notification tray, swipe down again, tap to pull up the set of user profiles, tap on the one I want, and then wait several seconds for the fingerprint sensor to wake up, or type in the passcode). Finally, with work profiles you can e.g. be on a call in discord in the main profile, while using an app from the work profile at the same time; as far as I understand it, this isn't possible with user profiles. For my usecases these inconveniences make user profiles just really not work. Are there any ways in which these pain points might be addressed in the future?

        • This is a mild annoyance, but maybe one you kind folks can solve.

When I put a period at the end of my sentence, in any application, I see a red line indicating a misspelling. This does not happen with question marks and exclamation points. What am I missing?
