How do I use a sim card safely and non traceably

Don’t think you can… probably best to largely use Wi-Fi, a vpn and keep on airplane mode. Use voip services when you must make traditional calls

When you must use your sim, only use for data, not for texts or calls.

Perhaps buying prepaid SIM cards with no kyc (like mint mobile in USA) or using silent.link could work. Unfortunately you must have google play services installed to use an Esim like silent link on graphene

Sim is explicitly a tracking tech, by design - cellular provider must know where you are in order to forward data/call/SMS to you.

There's no perfect 100% private options, but you can do some things to reduce. As far as disassociating your info from your SIM, you can go instore and purchase a sim starter package ( like mint mobile), paid for in cash, register it under an alias and load it with a prepaid gift card.

At that point your service is anonymous, but not private since you're still interacting with cell towers. Mint is probably still logging all your calls and texts and location data. People who want very private phones use VoIP for calls and texts, have no SIM card, and only send and receive calls and texts via WiFi; which is not very realistic for most people.

If I'm reading this correct, graphenes airplane mode 100% cuts communication to cell towers on both a cellular network and data network right? Airplane mode (at least with GOS is essentially the equivalent of turning your phone off?

Pette port your number on your SIM card to voip. Stops the cell tower pinging but let's you still use data.

Here is the starting point to set your direction of thoughts:

1. Use anonymous prepaid SIM with cash, never use for calling only data is OK.
2. Create secondary profile without access to calls and texts
3. Don't install Google Play Services. But if you have to install only in secondary profile, but don't login
4. Apps that you suspect of tracing you, should be used inside secondary profile
5. Disable all location services in the secondary profile
6. Don't use the phone in questionable areas

you can continue developing these tips yourself based on your threat model.
