I am new to Graphene OS and have a question concerning app tracking. As far as I understood, individual apps are not able to detect what I do in other apps, but as apps may communicate with mutual consent, they may still exchange user/phone data. Therefore I wondered if there is a feature in Graphene OS similar to the one in apple that blocks app tracking (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212025) or if its planned for the future.
Moreover, I wondered if it is possible to install apps (via the sandboxed google play store) in a different user profile than the store itself to prevent communication between apps.
Thanks for your help!

You can install the apps you want in each profile via the profile settings," install available apps" and disable the app in the owner profile .

      Hi!

If you don't want apps to be able to see each other or communicate, put them in separate profiles; that'll do it.

It is planned to eventually have a feature to restrict app communication for apps residing in the same profile, but it needs to be properly investigated and implemented. GrapheneOS won't ship a half-measure solution.

You can see the issue for it on GitHub here:

You can also get a glimpse at what that may look like in practice here:

If you install Sandboxed Google Play in your Owner profile, you can then use the "install available apps" feature to move them over to other profiles without having to install them there separately.

Furthermore, if you update an app in one profile, it's updated in all.

Will be technically possible the other way around - pushing an app from the other profile to the Owner?
        Sorry, I'm not a developer.

cactus457 Apple's feature does NOT block app tracking. It's an Apple app store policy that apps need to ask for your consent. This is a common misconception about what Apple is doing. The only technical measures that are part of it are comparable to the similar feature available in Google Play services of zeroing out the advertising ID.

Oggyo It is not currently supported for security reasons. An actual additional user using the device via a separate profile could install a malicious app and the Owner user would have no way of knowing that happened.

Skyway matchboxbananasynergy Thanks for your explanation :) That looks like a pretty nice feature! So the play store and an app from the play store have to be both in one profile, e.g. the owner profile (but the app could be deactivated there) but they can't be completely separate in two different profiles (e.g. Play Store only in owner profile and app only in another profile), right?
