DeletedUser81 I had the same problem and about 1 week later I couldn't install Chromium without installing the Trichrome library as well again. So I guess, as Wonderfall wrote in the link from treequell, that the OS took care of it ;)

I just came across the information that the local Adguard ad-blocker app works with their VPN app. But keep in mind that graphene OS advises against using these kinds of apps ;)
Titan_M2 Thanks!
Thanks for your explanation! :)

Jimmy6584 As far as I know you can't use a local ad-blocker app and a different VPN app together. Graphene further advises against using a local ad-blocker app for security reasons (see FAQ). However, you could use a VPN that includes ad-blocking.
The graphene FAQs suggests not to use ad-blocking apps, describing a specific app as an example. It is noted that ad-blocking apps function in a way that may cause security issues and that they would need an implemented VPN service (https://grapheneos.org/faq#ad-blocking). I just wondered if this applies to other apps like NetGuard, TrackingControl and Adaway as well or if they function differently.
Are there more drawbacks of ad-blocking apps compared to system-wide ad-blocking via DNS-Servers (assuming the same blocklist is used to prevent differences in potential fingerprinting)? I'm looking forward to hear your opinionI just wondered about your experience with updating open source apps. As far as I understood, some people use the RSS-method to notify them about updates and then download and install them manually. Others use Neo-Store/Droidify or Obtanium (or Accrescent, as far as already possible). Apparently, Obtanium notifys the user about new updates that the user can then download manually while Neo-Store/Droidify supports automatic updates. It was mentioned that Obtanium can obtain the updates directly from the developer’s site on github, avoiding potential disadvantages of F-Droid-signed apps. Do you have any comments on that? What is the difference between these methods from a security perspective?

strcat Thanks for your clarification!

Skyway matchboxbananasynergy Thanks for your explanation :) That looks like a pretty nice feature! So the play store and an app from the play store have to be both in one profile, e.g. the owner profile (but the app could be deactivated there) but they can't be completely separate in two different profiles (e.g. Play Store only in owner profile and app only in another profile), right?
- In App tracking
I am new to Graphene OS and have a question concerning app tracking. As far as I understood, individual apps are not able to detect what I do in other apps, but as apps may communicate with mutual consent, they may still exchange user/phone data. Therefore I wondered if there is a feature in Graphene OS similar to the one in apple that blocks app tracking (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212025) or if its planned for the future.
Moreover, I wondered if it is possible to install apps (via the sandboxed google play store) in a different user profile than the store itself to prevent communication between apps.
Thanks for your help!
