  • Why does SMS still work in Airplane mode?

Hmmm... interesting: So I just tested my P7P on Aero mode + Wifi Calling enabled and the SMS did NOT send so just confirming for you something does seem wrong...

VAULT Not dual sim, but I used to have WiFi Calling on and I turned it off. I can't make or receive calls now, only SMS.

Idk. Its upstream issue

RCS is a communication protocol. It is supported by the Google Messages app, so if you haven't got Google Messages app installed then it probably has nothing to do with RCS.

In any case, I think the issue is more related to previously having WiFi calling enabled.

GrapheneOS Pretty sure Wi-Fi calling also enables SMS to be send over Wi-Fi as well. Maybe this is a carrier dependent. If I don't have it enable I get zero calls or text at work when in areas with zero service like basement of hospital. Having it enabled allows me to send and receive sms/text messages with zero cell signal.

Nothing to do with wifi calling, just wifi itself. Is it me or certain people cherry pick issues that are well known on the internet to present them here. Turn your airplane mode on, wifi off and no messages will slip through. As far as I have seen, certain carriers (without further explanation which one) permit sending sms over internet as data packets.

Absolutely. I wish there was more info on this. Could be an upstream issue, I don’t know but it happens.

Wifi calling is the first thing I turn off.
The only way for me to fully stop SMS is to turn off the SIM. Airplane mode won’t do it.

Any updates? Were the issues fixed?
