  • WiFi Calling off but I'm still getting SMS and calls?

I turned WiFi Calling off and put my device in Airplane Mode but I still receive SMS messages and calls as though it's still on. I can send and receive texts but I can only receive calls (an error message appears when I try to make an outbound call, as I would expect.) I wasn't expecting calls or texts to work under this situation since I'm in airplane mode with WiFi Calling off. Why does this happen?

I learned this the hard way and I don’t have an explanation why this happens, fully turning off your SIM in Network & Internet settings stops all that.
