I'm thinking about getting a pixel 6 but I've heard it has so many issues, is that all overblown?
I've heard overheating, connectivity issues data/wifi, etc.

Does anyone use pixel 6 with no issues?

Thanks

[deleted]. I have a P6 since it's original release and have had no real issues with the phone. I did have connectivity issues initially - but most minor bugs I may have had were fixed with google updates and releases. Am interested to see what other's reply

FYI: A lot of people bought the Pixel 6 for GOS because it was the first Pixel phone released (with the 6 Pro) that had the new Titan M chip and 5 years of security patches.

I've seen statistics reported in 2023 by the devs that indicate the Pixel 6 is currently the phone most commonly used to run GrapheneOS (based on the number of system updater fetches IIRC).

Now of course it only has just over 3.5 years of security patches remaining.

I've got a pixel 6 and never had any issues with it.

Good battery life for my usage. I use different profiles for different stuff, work, personal etc.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a used 6, it's been great so far in every regard

Only the fingerprint but it is OK. Nothing to be afraid of. If I were buying I would go for 6a due to one more year of security updates. Not sure if you have the choice

    Hey qr1,

my Pixel 6 is really a fine device. I don't have any issues except the really unreliable fingerprint sensor. It's a mess. Works sometimes, I would say 1 out of 20 tries (it varies)...it's easier and faster to unlock the device not to use fingerprint.

I also use a Pixel 6 and I don't really have anything to complain about. I was originally planning to get a Pixel 6a, but I dropped and broke my 3a before 6a's release, so I need a new device ASAP and opted for Pixel 6 instead.

No issues at all. Even the fingerprint reader that most people seem to have gripes with is pretty damn reliable nowadays (one of the monthly Google patches significantly improved it, or at least it feels that way).

I don't know if I would recommend that someone get a Pixel 6 at this time since some time has passed and you're losing out on some of the support for it in terms of years, but if it's the only device within your price ranger at the moment; go for it!

matchboxbananasynergy Thank you. I feel the only thing scaring me away from it is the huge amount of reports about the modem being problematic. Connectivity issues for data/wifi/bluetooth etc. Not sure what to make of all that.

[deleted] I can only say that I haven't really experienced that.

In general, keep in mind that people are primarily only going to post about something on the Internet when they've had a negative experience. Rarely will they take the time to post about something working as expected.

Therefore, it often feels like things are a lot worse than they truly are.

Consider this: if you were providing customer support for a product, your day would be filled with reports about things not working. All of the users happily using said product won't reach out. This can very quickly lead you to think that the product you're supporting (in this hypothetical) is much worse than it is. Hardware is no different to that. I'm not saying that people didn't have bad experiences; I'm sure they did. I'm merely saying that you shouldn't base your decisions on anecdotal evidence (be that positive or negative).

I hope that gives you a different perspective, and that it helps. Best of luck!

I actually bought a pixel 6a unlocked ($480) at best buy a few days ago and specifically so I could install graphene os operating system and to be completely honest I absolutely love it ! Battery last a long time , everything runs super smooth/fast and I haven't experienced any issues that made me concerned in the slightest ! I've had iphones my whole life but now I don't think im ever going back to one again after switching . The only thing I will complain about is the interface throwing me off but I will learn to adjust ! My next purchase is deff going to be a pixel 7 whenever its time for a 2nd phone but for now the pixel 6a (budget phone ) is deff getting the job done . two things I personally love about the 6a so far is the speakers for music or video and how it doesn't lag when I'm multi tasking

Just want to add I also have a Pixel 6 and it's been a great phone for me as well. Never once had connectivity issues. Fingerprint reader is annoying sometimes, but I always fix it by re-enrolling if it gets too annoying. Phone does get warm sometimes, but it's never been a problem.
