In general, keep in mind that people are primarily only going to post about something on the Internet when they've had a negative experience. Rarely will they take the time to post about something working as expected.
Therefore, it often feels like things are a lot worse than they truly are.
Consider this: if you were providing customer support for a product, your day would be filled with reports about things not working. All of the users happily using said product won't reach out. This can very quickly lead you to think that the product you're supporting (in this hypothetical) is much worse than it is. Hardware is no different to that. I'm not saying that people didn't have bad experiences; I'm sure they did. I'm merely saying that you shouldn't base your decisions on anecdotal evidence (be that positive or negative).
