Feature request for swipe typing with keyboard
- Edited
hakayova Hi. GrapheneOS currently uses the AOSP Keyboard, which isn't receiving feature updates from upstream.
I would recommend installing a keyboard that implements that feature instead.
Florisboard seems to have this feature available for English:

Otherwise, you could try out Gboard.
Thank you so much @matchboxbananasynergy. I am glad I asked! Thank you for your suggestions too, very much appreciated. Thanks again for being a great support!
hakayova Second your request, but in the meantime there's Floris & GBoard. I've got both installed. Floris is nice and highly customizable with regards to themes. It also supports swipe/glide typing, and does it nicely. GBoard is more functional with predictive text and more useful (to me) autocorrect, as well as having swipe of course. I set GBoard to only have Sensors permission, nothing else and it works well. Some of the GIF support is unavailable this way, but that's a reasonable tradeoff for GBoard to not phone home to google. To clarify, these observations are only for English, I haven't tried other languages.

Glide fork of OpenBoard also exists (https://github.com/erkserkserks/openboard). It does use Google's proprietary glide library (libjni_latinimegoogle.so), but there's no privacy concern since this is just the glide implementation and the keyboard itself has no network permissions.

hakayova Do you have to compile it? There's an apk on its release page (https://github.com/erkserkserks/openboard/releases/tag/v1.4.5-gesture-typing), it should work.
