fix ancient Android bug causing widgets to disappear from the user's home screen when the user stops, which was a major usability issue for secondary users

Thanks. Tomorrow morning it will be easier to read the time with the clock widget.

Lets go, thank you for fixing the widget bug, it was super important. I have a request, there is another ancient android issue regarding to custom call ringtone not working in secondary user profiles, if you guys get the time to look into it, please fix it, i'll be forever grateful.

Thank you, just got it installed form Alpha channel.

Keyboard: extend fix for upstream layout bug in landscape mode to fully fix it for 3-button navigation in addition to the default gesture navigation

Amazing! Will this affect all keyboards or just AOSP?

arm AOSP Keyboard. If other keyboards have issues with Android 15 they need to fix it themselves.

This has been added to the top of the release notes:

Notice which will not impact most users: apps which were only installed in secondary users but not Owner before updating to Android 15 and which were then installed in Owner after updating to Android 15 will have a one-time revocation of their Network/Sensors permissions after updating to this release as a minor consequence of migrating them from Android 14 again.

I noticed it's possible for apps to end up with Network permission, when the same app is prior installed in the Owner profile (or in the Private space, depending where you do your first install), because it does not give you an option to disable Network permission during the 2nd install:

Install an app (that requires network access) through Owner profile, I tried with Accrescent and Aurora Store, uncheck Network permission during install. Now in the Private Space, install the same app the same way, it will not prompt with 'Do you want to install this app', therefore you cannot uncheck it's Network permission, therefore the app will be installed with Network permission in the Private space.

This also happens when you install the apps the 'opposite' direction, first in the Private Space and then in the Owner profile, the app in the Owner profile will then have Network permission.

This does not happen when I install using the default App Store or install an .apk through the File Manager, because it will give me an installer prompt during both the installations, so that I am able to uncheck Network permission.

Edit: This was after having Deleted and reinstalled the Private Space on version 2024102400.

Initially i could no longer change which keyboard i am using after this update. I am currently using FUTO Keyboard. In System>Keyboard>On-screen keyboard i could no longer toggle the AOSP keyboard to be activated or toggle FUTO keyboard to be deactivated. I had to re-install FUTO to fix this issue though now i see that AOSP is permanently activated though greyed out which wasnt the case before i re-installed FUTO.

Also, im not sure if its related to GOS or not but now when i enter my password for first unlock after a reboot some of the keyboard settings are ignored. For example, i have 'Pop up on key press' disabled in FUTO keyboard settings but when i type for the first unlock the letters i type pop up when pressed. The keyboard theme is also different. When unlocking after first unlock the keyboard behaves as expected.

overstep i can use both Keyboards (Futo and AOSP) in the same way like before.

I am on P7a and experiencing multiple crashes since the last update. I thought this release will resolve the issue, but it is still happening. Most of the applications installed through Play Store are crashing after using for few time. Other applications are doing fine as far I remember. YouTube and YouTube Music are crashing each time I have launched them. Other apps, like WhatsApp, they crashed a few times too. How can I help debug this issue?

P.S - Overall experience also feels slower than the Android 14. Is this expected?

        Also on a 7a
        Cannot confirm either statement
Neither crashes nor that the device is slower.

        Can only say one thing:
Pulling down the quick settings no longer responds as well as it used to.
You have to hit the status bar exactly for the quick settings to appear/pull down.
That used to be easier (in A14). Not as extremely sensitive

matchboxbananasynergy I noticed this behavior yesterday, before the latest release, but I assumed the behavior simply mirrors what happens when you use the feature "Install available apps" from the Owner profile – as in, in a secondary user, the network permission will be granted by default without the install dialogue appearing. Which has always been the case, as far as I can tell.

AlphaElwedritsch I rebooted it a few times, and it seems to have improved, but still, there are a few crashes. This may seem weird, but the quick setting is working as usual for me. Plus my always-on VPN (tailscale) also keeps crashing.
