So, i have been using Google Meet for video calls for some time, now that Discord has rolled out e2ee video calls is it considered a reliable alternative?

While audio and video will now be end-to-end encrypted, Discord still has a lot to improve on (in terms of privacy) to be considered a worthy/reliable alternative. I recommend SimpleX Chat for your video call needs: https://simplex.chat/docs/guide/audio-video-calls.html.

If you like to tinker with computers, you can set up an xmpp server and use Conversations. Not only is it E2EE, but it only sees your own server ;)
I would simply use Signal, especially now that it has user names
