Hi Everyone!

About a month or so ago I bought my Google Pixel Tablet specifically to install Graphene OS. It was Installed, as I assumed, Correctly and everything was working Fine UNTILL suddently (approximately after several days of fidgiting with the New OS) when I put it on it's Dock (it was definitely not the first time I did it) - after some time charging I could not open it. It just fully stopped reacting to Any of my Touches. But after I On/Off Screen a few times, got it from its Dock and attached a New USB cable right in the Device itself - suddently it worked again like Nothing has happenned at all.

I thought - well, ok - some mini Bug occured. Then I continued Installing Apps, fidgeting with the Settings (not on the Deep Level - just on an average consumer level). And then again after I docked it on dock (after docking it without an issue tens of times already) it did exactly the same - it was not able to register a single touch. But this time it got worse, cause the Screen started to having a stroke Fully randomly: the screen became like cut to a lot of Vertical Strips and they were Jiggling like Crazy (I will attach a Video of it a bit later). Also - there seems to be a Clear "Cut" that went right in the middle of the screen which separated Jiggling parts from non-jiggling ones. BUT once I did Off and On Screen again - the jiggle went completely away, but it still did not register any touch - I try to swing fingers across the screen and jiggle randomly starts again - I on/off screen - It's gone and so on.

All in all I tried to unblock the device again and again but to no effect. Trying all the different Cables this time had no effect at all. Also I Restarted the Device a couple of times but as soon as it went to the Graphene OS logo - the logo itself started to Glitch-Jiggle like crazy! I noticed that GOOGLE Logo did not jiggle even 1 time even to this day! As well as when I go to Fast Boot, Bootloader and all those technical screens - they NEVER Jiggle.

SIDENOTE: I did noticed that the Device seems to Charge only to 90% from the Dock the whole time I owned the device. Yesterday I attached it with a whole different cable to my PowerBank and it managed to go to 91%, still jiggling like absolute maniac. And then After I rebooted the device it suddently showed 100%.

And then Finally the Device randomly allowed me to Enter the PIN and I was in. The whole OS and Apps, the Screen and Touches were working absolutely Perfectly - like nothing happened. I did a Factory Reset of the Device and started Installing Apps all over again. The Reset worked - no Jiggle. Dock, Screen, Touches, Lock Screen - everything worked Flawlessly. Untill it didn't again.

Once again I was locked out of the Device and this time it didn't go so well because from Yesterday to Today I Rebooted it tens of times, I Factory Reseted it Tens of times, but the Crazy Jiggle still, as I speak, randomly occurs (seems like a LOT more often) and all this time it did not accept a Single Touch. As of now the Graphene logo Jiggles, Google - not once. All the technical screens with text and dead Android with open chest - not once jiggled. But the Start Screen (Welcome to Graphene OS) - jiggles like crazy also. And so this is where I'm at right now.

I don't know if it's Graphene OS's bug, or the Pixel Tablet Device's itself bug, Software or Hardware, or Screen alone. And so I'm asking You to Help me try to understand what can I do to Fix this? I'm kinda Desperate right now to be honest... Thank You all in Advance to simply Reading all of this :)

grapheneos_noob Unfortunately this sounds like a hardware problem. I would recommend flashing it back to the stock Google OS, with the expectation that it will exhibit the same symptoms if it is used for a day or so. At that point pursuing a repair will likely make sense - hopefully the device is still under Google's warranty.

de0u Thanks so much for Your Answer! Do you happen to know a really good Step-by-step Tutorial in Text or Video format on How to flash a Stock Google OS? I'm just, as a name suggest, GrapheneOS Noob and need a literal Guide to do Anything with flashing roms and all that jazz

I think this might be the canonical source: https://source.android.com/docs/setup/build/flash (the bottom of the page mentions flashing back to the current stock OS). There is conflicting information online about whether or not that tool can handle Pixel Tablet devices, but the existence of this link suggests it can. I found that link here.

If possible, please report back on your experience after flashing back to the stock OS.

de0u Thank You for your suggestion, but I'm afraid Flash Tool even explicitly says it can't deal with Tablets right on it's Main Screen:

          https://prnt.sc/bNtOX_bFrzot

Is there a possibility, that if I use this Android Flash Tool - my Tablet will go into Brick state, that even Repair Shop would not be able to repair it?

Also, according to the sticker on my box - this particular Tablet is Japanese version of it. For Better or Worse

grapheneos_noob I'm afraid Flash Tool even explicitly says it can't deal with Tablets right on it's Main Screen.

Indeed. But various articles online say it can, and, again, the existence of click-to-flash links for the Pixel Tablet on Google's official image page suggests it can. Since I don't have a Pixel Tablet, I am not personally able to resolve the conflicting information. Perhaps others will weigh in.

de0u Oh, interesting. Anyway, Thanks again a Lot! And all the Others - Please Join the Conversation! Literally Every Comment or Suggestion counts

grapheneos_noob Honestly, I don't see why it wouldn't work. Either way, the website should be able to detect which device you're using (otherwise how else would it know which factory image to flash?), so if it's not supported, it should just refuse to progress to the flashing stage.

                I. SH*T. YOU. NOT

Literally JUST I was talking to a friend that my fellow Laptop let me down and just for a bit I was like "See - it's not reacting to my touches at all" - and it... REACTED. Af if Nothing Ever Happened.

The STRANGEST Part is that it was Just Sitting attached to a Dock. NO CHARGING whatsoever. It sat there for I don't know how many Tens of Hours not Reacting a bit to my Touches and doing it's famous Crazy Jiggle Dance.

                What WOODOO is this?

Now, guys, can You please teach me How Exactly to properly do a Manual Logging or how to Enable Remote Logging - so the Next Time this **cker Goes Rogue I at least have some Bread Crumps left to Analyze.

As of Now it's a Fresh Graphene OS after 6th or 7th Factorу Reset. The only 2 things I changed right away so far:

                1. Deleted PIN entirely - so it can't Lock me Out of the Device
                2. Set Screen Timeout to MAX (30 min)

15 Minutes Post-RESSURECTION Update: works like a Charm, reacts to the slightest touches, no Jiggle or anything. Nothing ever was Wrong with it.

The Only Explanation I can think up right now is that this Bastard just heard me talking to my friend that "I guess I need to Replace it with another Device" and did the Infamous "It's Just a Prank, BRO" and suddently became fully normal again :)

                Update: still works as New.

Here's the Video showing the Crazy Jiggle Glitch I was reffering to: https://youtu.be/Ng5PNdn4QAU

As You can see at the Very End of this clip the jiggle is SO SEVERE it looks like the Screen is Broken beyong Repair. But yet it HEALED itself. Freaking Wolverine WooDoo sh*t :)

Also here are All 6 Log Files I retrieved from View Logs section of Graphene OS: https://file.io/az3aGtdDQDyF

If anyone Finds anything that can lead to the Core of the Problem inside those Logs - Please Reply! Thank You

Update: I gathered enough courage to finally Turn Off the Screen.

Guess what? When I turned it On - The Crazy Jiggle Glitch came Right Back! (the exact same type as at the End of the Video)

                Here we go again...

from what it sounds like, i had the same issue with my pixel 7, down to the intermittent working. it even fooled the repair guys and i had to go back!

your screen is defective and is no longer properly connected to the rest of the hardware, i'm all but certain. if it's under warranty you can take it in and they will repair it in a few hours time.

itsjpb Yep, it can definitely Fool anybody - after it again just sat down on the Dock without charging for Night - it Works Perfectly again!

As for Defective Screen - again, I'm not sure if the Screen itself has anything to do with the Glitches: it works flawlessly, reacting to the slightest touch, and the Glitch never occurs while I'm actively working on it. It occurs RIGHT AFTER I turn screen Off and then On

But, yeah, will definitely flash Stock Google and we'll see what happens. Will keep You Posted. Thanks again to all the Suggestions!

Is there a way to write to him directly through this forum? It didn't work well on Matrix

They're a moderator, not a developer for the project.

Matrix is the only way I know of to contact them directly.
