  • Request for testing and feedback with Bluetooth on Android 14 QPR2 GrapheneOS

Before testing, please disable developer options, enable "Notify about system process crashes" in Settings > Security and reboot. This will avoid issues caused by developer settings and will provide you with crash logs for crashes of Bluetooth related services which you can provide here.

Please provide a list of the Bluetooth devices you use including the device type and ideally the specific brand/model of device, whether it is working well for you before Android 14 QPR2 and whether it's working well since updating to Android 14 QPR2. If there are any crash logs , please include them.

The latest 3 releases of GrapheneOS (2024030800, 2024030700 and 2024030600) are based on Android 14 QPR2 and 2024030800 is the first to reach the Stable channel. No issues were reported with Bluetooth with any of our 3 initial releases based on Android 14 QPR2 while they were in Alpha or Beta so it must be working fine for most users and with most devices. It would be helpful if people could provide the requested feedback so we can determine which devices have issues.

Pixel 7a - currently bluetooth functions as previously. Connections to ear buds, smartwatch, speaker, car, android auto - all good. Will update if something changes.

Hi, I am using a pixel 8 pro with 2nd gen airpods pro, was working well before and is working well after. havent had any bluetooth crashes whatsoever.

doffactory We think that your device may not be working due to upstream security fixes which would mean that this is also the case on stock OS.

I understand that this is a lot to ask but we do not have this specific Bluetooth device. Would it be possible for you to backup your data and flash stock OS on the latest Android 14 QPR2 release to see whether your device works there? It likely won't, but confirming that would be a big help to the team.

If you do make backup for this, make sure to enable the device-to-device backup mode toggle to backup much more app data. You should back up your home directory yourself and backup Signal/Molly via their own backup system. Also, OS backup service is per-profile.

P8 in current Alpha, Bluetooth connection tested with the following devices: Bluetooth Speaker (UE Megaboom, sound), 2 Headlhones (Ultrasone Lapis, Ultrasone Isar, both sound), Car Stereo (Smart Media Systems, sound), Notebook (HP Spectre x360, File Transfer), Hifi Receiver (Denon AVR-X220W, Sound), Omron RS7 Blood Preasure Measurement. All works well, no crashes or other issues noted).

matchboxbananasynergy I asked the same question on the app dev's page: https://github.com/nightscout/AndroidAPS/issues/3259

To be honest, I believe this might be indeed an issue on the stock Android 14 QPR2 release as well, although unconfirmed, and at the moment I do not have much time to completely reflash the phone with 3 accounts due to work commitments in the upcoming 2-3 weeks. Hopefully other P7 users will be able to confirm whether the stock firmware suffers with the same issue

I haven't tested all Bluetooth devices yet, but so far headphones seem fine.

The one thing that has stopped worked with Graphene's 14QPR2 is my Pebble Time watch (via GadgetBridge). It worked fine before the update, but now reports (in GadgetBridge) "Connecting" and then "Waiting to reconnect" and then loops back to "Connecting" infinitely and never actually manages to connect.

Got issues connecting a classic bluetooth (non-BLE) ELM327 OBD dongle (OBDLink MX+). Pairing works, but then apps cannot connect. Got no crash reports. Test on non-GrapheneOS phones were successful.

My phone (Pixel8) is on latest GrapheneOS 2024030800
I'm quite sure it worked when I initially installed GraphenOS about 2 months ago.

A bunch of other BT devices still work flawlessly on same phone (e.g. headphones, car HFP, ...)

I can confirm these devices working:

        • 1more Comfobuds Pro
        • Sabbat E12 Ultra
        • Nothing Ear (2)
        • PineTime watch (via Gadgetbridge)

The PineTime seems to take a lot longer to connect after starting Gadgetbridge (about 50s compared to about 3 seconds before) but reconnecting is fast as ever.

No crashes; works fine on a Pixel 8:

        • Jabra Elite Active 75t earbuds
        • Ironside 2018 BT speaker

These devices do not support Bluetooth LE.

        2024030800

GrapheneOS Pixel 7 Pro, Shockz OpenFit, Bluetooth audio in calls works but the microphone does not always work and sometimes drops put. Have to manually reselect Bluetooth device in the call for the microphone to start working again.
Edit: using 2024030800 I've had the issue occur today after updating but I've been experiencing the issue for over a month now and only just made an account here to try and figure it out.

        Galaxy watch6 classic doesn't connect.

If i open my bluetooth screen it seems to keep trying to connect. It cycles rapidly from saved devices to the top (where the connected devices normally show)

        Same thing.

        p8 Pro running 2024030800.

Religiously use apple airpod pros new and old generations and have never had issues on any release.

I use a 2nd profile as my daily driver and noticed when switching to the Owner profile sometimes get a "Bluetooth has crashed" notification on the Owner. Will try to save logs next time but doesn't happen often.
