  • Best keyboard for GrapheneOS??

For the non-paranoid, Gboard without Internet and in a profile without google apps should be good enough.

For the paranoid, I can recommend FlorisBoard. The only gripe is it does not have suggestions and autocorrect right now, but that is their priority item for their next update.

    I second FlorisBoard 👍 don't need to be paranoid, it's a solid option! 🙂

GBoard/Florisboard tend to be the most often recommended, I use the latter, however Openboard, Anysoftkeyboard, Simple Keyboard and stock are all fine.

Florisboard for their open source approach, has been contributed to by GrapheneOS and consideration was made to integrate into the OS.

GBoard and AnysoftKeyboard tend to be go to for people wanting multi languages.

GBoard is the only option for dictation. (Can be done by downloaded a language pack via Faster Voice typing option in settings which downloads the model to the phone for offline use, however network must be available until it downloads, takes 2-5 mins, then network revoked going forward.)

Would gboard be able to communicate with the network through google apps installed in the same profile, even with network disabled?

Edit: See you already answered this question in this thread, my bad

      Hello,
I see the discussions about the Keyboard often and it seems to be an important feature for a lot of people. Can anyone tell me what am I missing when using the default Keyboard?
The only downside I am seeing compared to iPhone Keyboard, that it does not remember some specific non standard words I use in my dialect.
      Thank you.

treequell last update was june 2022, no word prediction, no autocorrect. so basically its not usable in its current state

the default keyboard has very few "secondary" (press and hold) functions. Other keyboards offer much better shortcuts in this regard. You don't have to switch pages constantly to get to non-letter characters. Its kind of a big deal in practice.

maximus87 That's off by default for privacy reasons, you can turn it on in settings. You can also manually add words to make it stop auto correcting them.

I enjoy using the Blackberry Keyboard. A patched version which works on non-Blackberry android devices can be found on Crackberry.

I like the Graphene keyboard but would take a dedicated number row and don't see that option.

I'm just wondering how to get away from Gboard but still use GIFs if anyone has any suggestions for that.
