You probably have an app that's running all the time that's eating up your battery. Can you tell which app it is in Settings > Battery > Battery usage?

You can also check for apps that are running in the background by doing the following: swipe down from the top of your screen (to see notifications) > swipe down again to see all of your quick settings tiles > at the bottom of the screen, you should see a circular icon with a number in it. Tap that, and you will see a window pop up entitled "Active apps".

You will see all of your active apps. Try stopping apps to see which one is causing the issue. It might take some trial and error to figure out which one is causing the battery drain.

kingw Facebook and WhatsApp are running in the background for a super long time... I don't use either of those apps, so I'm not sure what the stats would look like for regular users. Either way, I'd change both of those apps' battery profiles to "restricted".

Settings > Apps > All apps > Facebook > App battery usage

other8026 Facebook and WhatsApp are running in the background for a super long time... I don't use either of those apps,

Then why not uninstall them and greatly improve your privacy?

Hold the app icon on the desktop or app drawer.
Select "app info" on the menu.
Tap Force stop, and Uninstall (you can instead tap Disable if you might want to use them in the future).

ve3jlg i observed the drain when i use any apps. because my friends and business is around fb and whatsapp, i usually check it atleast 1-2 hours per day
for best privacy, i guess is to not use internet at all

kingw i had already set it to restricted

really? Like I said, I don't use either app, so I don't know what it should look like, but in my experience, apps don't usually operate that long in the background. You must be getting a lot of notifications or something.

Did you check what apps are running in the background like I suggested in my first post? Maybe there's something there that's the real culprit. I've had crazy battery drain a couple of times and the battery stats page was completely useless. It didn't list the actual app that had drained my battery so much, but it was one that was running in the background.

And, like I also said in the first post, it might take some trial and error to figure out what is draining you battery. Maybe since Facebook is running in the background so much, maybe try disabling Facebook for a few hours and use Facebook on another device for a while to see if the graph shows signs of evening out.

My 6A and now 7 both showed fast battery drain after GOS moved to Android 13. I think it was resolved that battery drain was a 13 issue, not specific to GOS.

What I did, based on recommendations:

        • I decluttered (2nd GOS benefit after privacy) keeping all chatty apps in inactive profiles.
        • Turned on Battery Saver mode, which I have not turned off in months. Haven't noticed any performance issues/lags.

Usually first 24 hours stays above 70% battery. Second 24 hours will take it down to 40% or so. It's essentially a 2-3 day phone now.

        Might give it a try.

I've noticed that my WhatsApp still receives push notifications despite putting its battery usage to "Restricted".
Not sure if the app running in the background has something to do with "Alarms & Reminders".

For me, the overall battery life in A14 is better than A13 but WhatsApp for example was using less battery in A13 and the overnight power drain in A13 was less than A14.
        Just my subjective overview.

I also have unsatisfactory battery life.

"Mobile Network" is chewing up 46% of the battery and "Screen" is only 11%

i left grapheneos and shifted back to stock os
battery efficient no drain at all
i would prefer battery over privacy
coz if it is draining too much, then phone becomes useless

I did some tests the past couple of days/nights and can say the only times when the A14 overnight battery drain is close to A13 is when placing the phone in airplane mode. No other changes (location, home WiFi AP configuration, etc.) recently. I'm with Graphene OS's latest update. Tried disabling some IM apps (WhatsApp, Viber) - not much difference.

          To summarize - with A14:

          • 3% overnight drain with airplane mode on.
          • 3-5% overnight drain with WiFi off, mobile data off.
          • 10-15% overnight drain with WiFi on, mobile data off.

I was thinking about resetting the WiFi but a bit reluctant because it is tight with the Bluetooth which I'm not ready for now (Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Bluetooth and Wi-Fi).

I will never ever complain about battery issues for the security and privacy benefits GrapheneOS brings. The rest is a human error.

I'm not complaining, I'm comparing GOS on A13 builds vs GOS on A14 builds :)

@NightSky, I know your reply is not directly to me, but I just to point out I'm on LTE-only mode.

Oggyo OP waa using 2 apps (Facebook & Whatsapp) by Meta.

Oggyo Same here. Just mentioning it, i know there is no reasonable solution. It was good in the first weeks of A14 release but the last week is awful. It is probably related to whatsapp, but it was last updated on 6th november. I always go to sleep with 100% battery, waking up after 6-7 hours with 50-55% now. It used to be 85%. The drain continues during the day. Unfortunately i cannot get rid of whatsapp because of school and work.

Can you turn WhatsApp off while you're asleep?

Is this with 5G on or off?
