Hello All.

I'm in the process of setting up a new Pixel 7 Pro and am having problems with location services.
One thing that I didn't see mentioned in this thread (sorry if I missed it) is that, in order to get OSM or a weather app or a weather radar app to work properly, I had to allow network access to Play Services.

Is that a common thing to do?

I have not signed into Google anywhere on this phone so, while apps may be collecting data, they can't associate said data to me specificallay... afaik.

So, even with Location (not redirected), Network, Notifications and Sensors allowed to Play Services and Location, Network and Sensors allowed to GPS test, the latter still cannot get a fix and shows no satellites while my stock Samsung phone shows 44 while sitting next to the Pixel on the desk.

Any thoughts?

Thank to all and to all a goodnight.
:)

Recently, even location outdoor is getting bad. At two times revently, my Pixel 7 (with GrapheneOS) took 5 minutes to find my location...
My friend's iphone instantly found GPS ... Fortunately I had 1hr to find my bus ...

Isn't it something @GrapheneOS can do to to make finding GPS easier ? Without Play Services because I don't want to give up my privacy tu use my GPS

83639273 what privacy do you give up when you install playservices but do not login to playstore?

83639273 took 5 minutes to find my location.

Sounds like you may not have been assisted by aGPS. Also the GPS hardware may not have been able to download GPS almanacs. Did you have a cellular connection while attempting to get location? Did you have any other kind of network connection?

If you dont have recent almanacs already downloaded and you have no network connection downloading them directly from GPS satellites takes some time.

How so and to what extent?
I've heard that if Google Play is not installed, apps have very little information about your device.
They certainly can't get to the imei number.
