Is anyone having issues with the app client never showing updates? I've just got into the habit of downloading them directly from Github because its never worked any other way. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Qwerty can you clarify what you mean a little further? Not showing updates, stuck on syncing metadata etc? A lot of the time the apps should self update as the apps app is capable of unattended app updates. Before heading to github next time open the app such as Camera if an update or new release is mentioned, check the latest installed version and then check the Camera app App Info page and you should see they sync already. It is designed to not require manual updates. If it is as soon as is mentioned you could try changing the release channel for the app to beta/alpha if you wish to update ASAP regardless of possible issues found during that stage.

Thank you for the reply. Today is a good example. We have Camera version 47 out today. When I go to the apps client, it says "All apps are up to date." When I checked my camera app, it's still version 45.

Qwerty I am also still on 45 and my system is on the stable update channel. I'm not really willing to go to beta or alpha channels because I need rock solid performance. In my opinion, I usually will get system updates daily, so I'll just wait for the next one and see if it adds Camera 47.

Qwerty [deleted] have you got check for updates periodically and auto update installed apps on?

If you have try clearing the cache of the Apps app and reloading. If you don't update via the apps app all the apps update when you install the next release.

Try switching channels from stable to beta and back again.

Kryptos Yes, which is why it's perplexing that I don't have 46 or 47 on the stable channel. Still on 45, constantly checking for updates periodically.

Yes, it looks like camera app 47 is not yet on the stable channel.

Same here, I am still on version 45 with the camera app.

Right to clarify from what I understand, everyone now knows and understands the release cycle process of current app releases going to alpha, beta then stable who has commented thus far. That an announcement of a release just means it has left internal testing into the α to β to stable process and that whether or not your app updates is determined by how much alpha/beta testing is required which can lead to app version increments without releases ever getting to stable. That all stock apps are updated with each full OS release if not before and that if you want a release sooner this comes with an element of personal responsibility to choose to select the alpha/beta channel and either live with some bugs if necessary and/or take part in the process via the [Matrix] channel: https://matrix.to/#/#testing:grapheneos.org
