Newbie with Graphene OS. I installed it on my Pixel 7a and I'm getting 2-3 notifications daily about system updates and being on the latest release.

Are they linked to the Apps updates? I can't find an option to change the schedule to look for them.

    Hello and welcome to GrapheneOS,
The notifications for system updates are much less than daily. Anyway you may get various notifications, that you can deactivate if you wish :

    • system updates of course,
    • notifications that your system is up to date, if you have selected the remote verification in the Auditor app and given that app the notification privilege,
    • apps updates if you have given the Apps app the notification privilege,
    • notifications that your system apps (those distributed by Apps) are up to date if you have selected that option in the Apps app.
      8 months later

Apps (app) -> Settings (in 3-dot menu) -> Update check interval -> 6 hours (default value)

This is the source of "already up to date" notifications. I don't know why 6 hours was chosen as a default, that is wholly unreasonable. 24 hours is a better choice.

chipotledonut when your receive updates about app or os is already up to date, just long press on the notifications and disable that specific type of notifications. You can do the same by going to settings also.

That is very incorrect. In my phone, "System Update" -> "Notification settings" -> "Already up to date" says "About 6 notifications per day". That fits my experience, although I haven't been keeping track.

I've changed the Apps "check for updates" interval to 24 hours from its original 6 hours. I'd like to make the same change to the System Updater, but there's no option for that.

I am an embedded programmer, with some extra time, and some OS level AOSP experience. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to get started with GrapheneOS, so I can add the missing option?

Alternately, tell me why it won't be accepted.

@studog Reviving this thread was unnecessary and it's off topic. If you don't like the minimum priority notifications shown when a check for updates determines you're already up-to-date you can turn it off. Since they're minimum priority, they're collapsed and hidden at the bottom below all other notifications. They aren't shown on the lockscreen or status bar. It doesn't actually notify you. Either stop swiping them away or turn them off if you don't want the information available there. The feature exists so that the information can be made available there if you swipe down. It is not supposed to be swiping away. Turn it off if you don't want it. The interval is infrequent enough to have no measurable impact on battery life and isn't more frequent to avoid creating too much server load. Changing that because you dislike this notification doesn't make sense.

In the future, avoid reviving old threads like this one where the thread already concluded. Also, please create a new thread for new topics which is what you're doing here.
