Good news, I was able to reregister Signal on my old phone. It seems I just couldn't see the Cancel and reregister option in the last step of the transfer on my old phone.

I then installed Google Framework and Services on another profile. I went back to my Owner profile and tried to reinstall Signal there using the apk file from the Signal website, and for some reason, this time it worked and I have my history. Not sure if installing the Google Framework on another profile had anything to do with it. I should have had to install it on the same profile for it to make a difference, no?

Both dc32f0cfe84def651e0e and the Aurora store have stated Signal requires GSF to work (unless I use the fork), so I'm not sure why it is working. Will I run into issues later?

I also tried installing Signal through the Aurora store that I installed on my Owner profile, but for some reason, when I searched the Aurora store for Signal, it didn't show up. Same happens when I search for Komoot. I'm guessing they don't show because they require GSF and I don't have it installed on that profile? Which brings me to the same question, how come Signal working when I don't have GSF on that profile? I'm still learning; sorry for the beginner questions.

Signal is designed to work without Google services.
By default, Signal uses Google Play Service for push notifications, but if it is not available, it uses websocket push instead.

I also recommend Molly instead of Signal.
It is a hardened Signal fork for Android.
It works without Google services and is 100% foss.

So Signal does shop up now in the Aurora store installed on my Owner profile without GSF, so I guess that was not the issue. I also looked at my filters, and I hadn't filtered out GSF dependant apps. Maybe that was just a connection issue.

All profiles must have the same version of any app otherwise it will give you errors .
Signal will work without google granted no profile uses signal and google .
Hope that makes sense.

Skyway I'm not sure I understand. Right now, in one profile (Owner), I have Signal, but not Google. In another profile I have Google, but not Signal. Signal seems to work well in the Owner profile. Did you mean it would create errors if I have Signal only in one profile and Signal and Google in another profile? Thanks!

Google isn't needed for signal.

For any app , that will be installed I'm multiple profiles they must be the same .
Example : if you install signal in owner profile from aurora store then install signal direct from signal in another profile the app direct from signal won't install or it will give you an error .
In this case its best to install signal in a secondary profile by going to setting >system > multiple users > select profile and install available apps.

88dotorg Signal can and does work without Google Play Services, provided the Services are not installed at the time of Signal app install.

If you want to consider a fork which explicitly works without Google Play Services, use Molly FOSS. You can install it using Accrescent or Obtainium.

Yes I know thank you! But in GrapheneOs you can for example Signal disable the app, it is the same like Molly Foss? Message can't come until you open the app. But Molly is a fork, third party, so Signal disable have more trust?

Disabling an app is implemented by the OS toggle, so it works properly regardless of the app you are disabling. Molly has some extra security features not available in Signal, which are listed here: https://github.com/mollyim/mollyim-android#features
