I can also vouch for Mullvad. They're always stepping up their game. The diskless servers, investing in WireGuard, QubesOS, not asking for information to signup...
Thanks to them, in early 2012 I bought a lot of Bitcoin (less than $5 back then) to pay for their service. I appreciate them for it.
Colvdv Thanks for the tip. I have abandoned NordVPN years ago and really not interested in the notices about this company. In any case, I know people that are using it and I know the Android app includes some analytic trackers
Yeah Riseup VPN does seem to be the best of the free options, it has a good reputation, but they really do need as many donations they can get, I am sure they are not getting enough
Corsair Mullvad Browser is another huge reason to go with their VPN.
Riseup VPN seems to be down right now, as in all servers seem to be down, such a shame, I guess they finally ran out of money, they provided an important service as they were not just free but no sign up needed

[unknown] That is also true, but Mullvad having a browser that works just like Tor Browser makes their VPN service more trustworthy. Rather than filling the internet with endless marketing campaigns like Nord does, they simply gestured an additional useful tool that compliments the use of any VPN.

Nobody can do anything about power failures in the data center.
I have had servers with many large providers for years and there have been problems with emergency power or core routers everywhere.
Olive That is a nice idea for a site
TPo and others have that too TorProject status
I only use their mail service and pad for meetings. I use my own VPN and Tor servers and those of friends.
Let's get back to OP's request and not talk politics please.
W1zardK1ng from my experience and research I do only recommend Mullvad and IVPN if privacy is your main goal. I have used ProtonVPN as well and seen people I deem credible giving the green light for Windscribe and Riseup.
If you for some reason need specific functionality of the last 3 providers or just want to use a free VPN every now and then, it should work just fine. Mullvad would be my first recommendation though for all the good reasons mentioned here already. For me Mullvad had the additional benefit of being the most stable compared to IVPN and ProtonVPN, so I use it as my main and have an IVPN account as backup/compartmentalization solution. Your mileage may vary though, depending on your location and OS. Maybe test them out, all of them offer either free or one month subscriptions.
