Pixel 6a. Audio for screen recording only works on Owner profile. For other profiles, I am not able to record screen with audio. Yes, I have clicked the slider to allow for "Record Audio - Device Audio."

I have tested this with NewPipe, Instagram, and YouTube in Vanadium. I have tested this in Owner profile, and in three alt profiles. None of the alt profiles can record audio.

Am I doing something wrong?

Please make sure that you are not using Incognito mode on Vanadium

spiral just repeated and no audio from YT app nor YT in Vanadium was recorded, no notification sounds either in my Play Services profile.

MetropleX Thanks for reporting back. Is there any difference for you regarding Owner profile vs Alts?

spiral owner works multiple users doesn't. Will have access to a stock device when I get back home in a few hours to test if it is the same there to confirm if it is GOS or upstream.

spiral can confirm this is an upstream issue and expected behaviour as it happens on stock.

I don't think this is solved. Does anybody have a solution for this audio recording issue when screen recording on GrapheneOS? Is there a good third party app that will do it?

Just tested it, more out of curiosity than necessity:

Within NewPipe (v0.26.1) I am able to record the sound if I activate Screen Record>Audio>Device Audio when starting the recorder.

However, when I try screen recording the YouTube page (and some news pages with video content as well) in Vanadium (120.0.6099.230.0), no sound is recorded.

All done in a secondary, not the Owner Profile.

As I do neiter use the YouTube app nor other third-party screen recording apps, I am unfortunately unable to test them or make a recommendation.

The same behaviour happens in Owner profile too.
It seems more and more apps (including stock GOS) are becoming prone to mute audio recording.

I cannot get any screen recording audio on Vandadium or apps using WebView. NewPipe works and so does Rumble thankfully.

Unfortunately this experience has existed for the longest time, ever since I started using Android/GOS. Coming from iOS many years ago, I wish there was an equivalent & universally solid/consistent screen recording w/ audio experience that always captures no matter what. But if it's upstream - unless dedicated work goes in to diagnosing & patching on the GOS end, might be a long haul.

Creating content to re-post on social media via the screen capture feature is a continuous endeavour of hoops & jumps to find alternative sources of the same content on capture-able mediums/apps.

I am having the same issue still -- I get no audio from mic or device audio when trying to record in any profile other than Owner.

I see in posts above that this seems to be an issue in stock Android. Does anyone have a link to that issue or in general to where the issue tracker is for stock android that GrapheneOS is based on?

            Thanks.
