A good question before we get excited is: why should you trust curve pay over garmin or google pay
Wallet - Google Pay
OfflinePuffin I am not saying it not trustworthy or a bad product but how is the company behind it and are they transparent
OfflinePuffin
They already have my cards so from my PoV I've already fucked up if they do shady stuff with my cards.
Personally I'm hoping Curve doesn't turn out to be the devil. I suspect we will see when we get closer to release.

OfflinePuffin I think the problem here is not that GrapheneOS users don't trust GooglePay to handle their cards and would trust another company, but rather, GooglePay doesn't trust GrapheneOS so limits the functionality of GooglePay by not allowing contactless payment nor adding of payment cards in the app. Hence, if you want to use both GrapheneOS and contactless payment, then your only option is to use a third party app that does trust GrapheneOS (or figure out a way to hack the source code so that GooglePay will trust GrapheneOS).
But it's a good question to ask, whether Curve is actually trustworthy. I'm hoping yes. If anyone has experience or information that can help shed light on this, please chime in.
JayJay Glad we'll have a Google Pay alternative soon. I'm switching to GrapheneOS when my Pixel arrives but I still want to pay with my smartphone.
Google should whitelist GrapheneOS, or remove the Play Integrity API.

I don't use my phone to pay for anything so this does not concern me, but one thing to consider, is by using your curve card to pay for something you do not get section 75 insurance, even if you use your credit card through the curve app.

However, it can be useful for one-off payments, for example with virtual cards like Revolut's.

I am planning to get a Pixel Watch 3. How would I add cards to it? Currently when I try to add a card to Google Wallet, it fails with an error message.
abdullah You can't use Google Wallet on GOS
raccoondad that's not what I'm asking
abdullah I would think you would need to add the card to the watch but Im not sure if you need a device on stock to set up the payment menthod
As an option for now, I've put a bank card on the back of my phone case inside. Yeh I hope we get an alternative 🤞🤷

Hello all!
Why can't I use Google Wallet? It seems to be broken. Can someone explain in non-technical terms?
Also, wow. Has this been an issue for over 2 years?
My understanding is: The Google API is insecure, so GrapheneOS chooses not to support it. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Perhaps the Google implementation is insecure... can we like, lobby them, pester them to fix it, or keep this post open to track the resolution? Since it may not be GrapheneOS's "fault" for choosing to be more secure, but it's certainly still an issue.

henryfbp "The Google API is insecure"
No, Googles attestation being insecure is not why GOS cannot pass said attestation, its because its not authenticated to do so.
GOS cannot pass Play Integrity API as GOS isn't authenticated to do so by Google. They would need to whitelist GOS or make an API that doesn't require approval from Google.
Its fully Googles choice and there is a good chance they will never allow GOS to pass the Play Integrity API
wuseman How is Curve pay been?

Google Pay with NFC still doesn't work I guess ?
Anyone tried recently ?
IamZorro its not supported
OfflinePuffin No. Only supports contactless payments on Huawei phones I believe. Fortunately I have a Garmin watch so I added my Curve card to Garmin pay on my watch and that works great even when using Gadgetbridge instead of Garmin Connect. So that has been my solution.
I would suggest buying a wallet you can attach to your phone, like this one: [https://www.amazon.com/WuoJI-Phone-Card-Wallet-Smartphones/dp/B075LFJ1TQ]

Samething happened to me. I bought the Pixel 9 Pro with the Pixel Watch 2 last month. When I was setting up the device, I managed to add the cards I tried. Now I have tried to add a new one, and as you said "Verification window (when you enter card details and billing address) just closes when I press "Continue" button and returns back to "Add a payment method"."
