  • missing-root interesting, reminds me of how Google Photos (which I have now isolated in my private space, absolutely adore that feature BTW) will download whatever weird AI model it uses for the magic eraser and then do the erasing locally.

I like that feature a lot, the GOS camera was already pretty good, Google Photos shot it through the roof

  • This happens to me, Pixel 6a, its so damn annoying.

It only happens with image attachments but its very disruptive. This is a huge issue that popped up from the Android 15 update.

    If anyone could help :<

Sart Did you download the udev rules and followed the rest of the instructions on the page? (assuming you are on Linux)

    Sart

Officially supported browsers for the web install method:

Chromium (outside Ubuntu, since they ship a broken Snap package without working WebUSB)
    Vanadium (GrapheneOS)
    Google Chrome
    Microsoft Edge
Brave (with Brave Shields disabled, since it caps storage usage at a low value to avoid fingerprinting available storage)

Sart Then its not possible to install GOS, apologies. If its unlocked/not a carrier version you can connect it to a wifi network and see if that works, but otherwise you cannot install GOS. We cannot help you install GOS until this is done, and if its a carrier version that prevents OEM unlocking, we cannot help you at all.

    • Sart replied to this.
    • Just to note, from what I understand, Vanadium cannot read PDF files, it opens the PDF viewer to read PDF files. So it would be a hit to functionality to remove it.

    • In HELP

Sart If you can't disable OEM unlocking then you cannot install GOS, its required, there is no work around to install GOS without this disabled.

Is your phone an unlocked variant, or a carrier, like Verizon

      • axl sandbox Google play isn't insecure, if anything its more secure

Exploit compatibility mode is a lot more secure than face ID/Pattern unlocking if used correctly

Is there not a fingerprint reader?

      • New bug:

Hiding private space makes it inaccessible until you unhide it, you should be able to just type "private space" in the search bar to access it, but you can't

Tried it on a Pixel 6a

        • Bug report

          Device: Pixel 6a
Version: Android 15 Oct 16 alpha update
Issue: default SMS application fails to work, sending a message gives an error saying its not the default SMS application, even when it is. Device can still receive messages

          • Rizzler the right to own doors on your bathroom are also political, its just not an active political issue, because no one disagrees with it.

GOS is inherently political, many of their choices (not providing provider apps in base, preventing certain types of tracking, not providing LE backdoors) are all political choices. GOS makes a political choice every time a state actor asks them to open a backdoor, which they would deny. GOS makes a political statement when they disable google services from accessing and scanning user data.

Sure, harden malloc isn't political, but gutting google services for user privacy is. Not everything is political, but GOS has made political choices by existing the way it does, and I'm happy they did, because its a service people need in modern day.

You are actively expressing your opinion, not "facts", you are making an argument of what you believe. I am doing the same.

Attempting to pass off your opinion as a 'fact' is overcompensation. It makes me feel you would rather just make a statement as a 'gotcha' than as a response to my past statement that would be replied to with more critical engagement.

Anyways, "political" ≠ divisive, but also keep in mind many, many people disagree with GOS on a fundamental value level...so if we want to say that it does mean divisive, then GOS fits perfectly.

            • axl riseup seems to only be socialist anarchists (judging from their logo), an ideology I share, they also seem to not talk about it much themselves. In the only place they do seem to reference politics (Political Principles), its libertarian in nature. I also don't see why someone's political stance would be an issue unless the ideology was malicious. You do realize ppl have political ideologies and biases regardless if they share them or not, including operators of Tuta and Protonmail.

Not the ideology of Russia (a state), nor do they operate in Russia.

Operating in the US does suck I suppose, but there are worse places.

            • axl "RiseUp is heavily politicized", Tor, grapheneOS, and Linux are also heavily politicized and basically exist due to specific political beliefs (privacy/anonymity, freedom of data transfer, copyleft, etc.)....your point being? Everything in the tech world is political
