Androids go Beep boop... The RCS guy on the forum
Unlit6179 from what I understand it doesn't need mic permissions... But I say that and have my enabled lol

The default SMS app would have RCS if Google put efforts into updating it so that it could use their and carrier's RCS stack and servers.
To be honest, Google should have just updated the base SMS app in AOSP. That would have solved a lot of early adoption issues.
But, like de0u said Different people have different purposes.
metalsped It stands for rich communication service. It's an upgraded protocol from MMS and SMS.
I know it unpopular but with RCS being deployed for iPhone Google messages is great
Is there a way I can create a backup of my GOS device so that if I wanted to move the stock and try it out for a little while and then move back?
There are some cool features on stock and I would like to at least check them out for a little while and then be able to move back to GOS without skipping a beat.
Also, it would be nice to have a local off device backup so that if I did have to restore at one point, I could do that.
- In Mascot
If Graphene OS had a mascot like other open source projects, what would it look like?
UnOrdinary
I want to add my two cents in here. Chrome OS Flex is really great. But I would personally wait until Google decides if they're merging the two projects ( Chrome OS and Android) because that's where it seems like it's going in my opinion.I do concur that updating Linux through a GUI is not at all intuitive or reliable. I don't know how hard it is to build a GUI application that just pulls data from the command line. But look at Windows They just got winget and winget's unofficial gui is outstanding, So hopefully that will inspire some future designers
With Android now having a terminal, would there be a future of Android specific package managers?
I have noticed this too. is it because of the high resolution screen?
pfr From what I'm seeing here, it seems like it. You could always reach out to your carrier and check.
DirtyDan mine is still working
When you redid the setup process, did you de-register your number first?
Are their any new features that messaging can take advantage of with the port?

Novastatic I have never reached out over the phone... (650) 253-0000 is the one I can find. Not sure how far you will get.
Do you have another phone around where you can pop your sim in and got through the process without use shizuku or any adb commands or mod apps
OfflinePuffin Also, give Google Play, phone and SMS permissions.
floop Do you have the Google app installed with network permissions enabled and Give network permissions to Google Play and permissions for Google Messages.
From what I read, this is a hardware problem. I wonder how Apple might fix this for those effected models
Novastatic I am not sure about that, it should not matter,
Novastatic possibly I would reach out to Google support its worth a try. I wouldn't tell them you allowed stuff with adb at first. Just see what they say
Its possibly its a problem with your carrier. Let me read back your posts and I will get back to you
Novastatic Did you try de-registering your number with Google messages? 24 hours and then try to set up Google messages again with having the Google app on your phone.
GwenAEther or you could set up RCS on the ower profile and log in with a Google account. Then connect to Google messages web on your second profile. I haven't tested this myself but I think it is worth a try
