As for the fingerprint sensor discussion: the optical sensor on Pixels just isn't good. It's a known thing. It might work alright for some, but that doesn't change the fact that for a large portion of users have issues with it. And it's just finnicky. Not much is needed for it to struggle to read the finger. The ultrasonic sensor is a must and should've been there many generations before!
Whether it's on the screen or the power button, just make it quick and reliable. Screen-mounted is nice for using other fingers or the other hand, or when it's mounted on a holder. When working or carrying stuff, one might have to use the other hand to open the car, answer a call or whatever. Reaching the power button with the left hand is... not easy. And requires re-positioning the phone in the hand. With one hand. Without dropping it.
But, I'd rather have a sensor that freakin' worked every time. Mine don't even work half the time. I have an 8 Pro. Yes, I have tried scanning multiple times. And multiple fingers (on both hands). It just isn't good. I have a screen protector though, but that's a requirement for a phone, let's be fair. 😅
DeletedUser499 Why not just put on gloves? I've had too many cuts, scrapes and mangled fingers and hands over the years that I'm now always putting gloves on, even if I'm just carrying furnature from the car. It's just not worth it with blood getting everywhere, wounds needing weeks or a month to heal, and the tedious ordeal of having to protect parts of your hand with missing skin, just so that it will finally heal after a couple weeks. Or a split or loose nail. I wish I used PPE more often because I have too many permanent injuries around my body snd limbs, some of which are daily annoyances/pain points. Just put on some kind of gloves, man. 😅 Something. 🤷♂️ Thin grippy tactile ones. Wash 'em in the washing machine. Good gloves last long.
