In my personal opinion, the most likely manufacturer is Sony, considering their 'relative' openness for developers.
Nothing is too small to support yet another operating system, and OnePlus is locking down Chinese variants.

Alternative GrapheneOS is open to collaborating with most OEMs, and I would be enthousiast to Sony, but I wouldn't expect it to happen initially. GrapheneOS has announced that the device will be a model without a 3.5 mm audio jack, and Sony is a very conservative company that does not currently sell its mobile devices in the US and Canadian markets, which are large markets. At present, it seems more logical for Sony to extend its proprietary Android-based operating system from its Xperia phones to its Afeela 1 electric cars built by Honda.

GrapheneOS will never collaborate with a manufacturer that spreads misinformation about GrapheneOS, about security/privacy in general, and that partners with a for-profit company for the operating system that attacks GrapheneOS and the community.

With the GOS project working with the OEM manufacturer, I am wondering if that implies that the manufacturer will be aiming to sell phones with GrapheneOS preinstalled? This leads me to wonder about the marketing of said phones. For sure they would not aim their marketing exclusively at dissidents, activists and organized criminals (a conclusion that a person might arrive at from various YouTube videos or law enforcement propaganda). I see many TV ads for DuckDuckGo lately highlighting the surveillance practices of Google so it would be great to see GrapheneOS marketed as a serious option for normal people.

I really don't care who it is, but I am also hoping that the new OEM manufacturer will have a GOS friendly tablet in their lineup as I am completely reliant on mine for my daily needs.

shadowbeany Several commentators seem almost certain that it is Motorola. For me, this is still speculation, but Motorola seems like a credible possibility. Their models are sold all over the world, their devices do not have a 3.5 mm audio jack, and the new models will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with MTE support.

How will selling a phone with GrapheneOS be worthwhile for a major OEM? They can't put their spyware/adware/ licensed proprietary third-party apps on the phone, so they'd lose some revenue because of it. And the user base for this OS is pretty small.

This will be a regular phone that will be also sold with their stock OS as already said by the official channels many times. Just with some extra requirements like secure element etc.

I would love it to be some OEM witch have specs like Motorola Signature. But is there really a chance that they would team up with chinise company like Motorola? That would be really odd.

I have used GrapheneOS under one week and I really hate that I needed to buy my first Pixel for this. They are just not in flagship league with anything but prize. Shitty battery with slow charging, absolutely garbage processor for over 1000€ phone etc.

For example Pixel 10 Pro weights 20 grams more than Motorola Signature with much smaller screen and worse battery stats. Actually Signature weights same as Pixel 9a. And Signatures performance is out of Googles league with much lighter phone.

I will propably use my Pixel 9a until they will tell the partners name and then buy their phone if im satisfyed with new partners phones. Or I just buy Pixel 10/11 Pro if there is no better phone out there with GOS that does not weight like over 230 grams.

If you want that illusion, there are plenty of other OS's/ROM's you can play with. The very reason I use GOS is because of their "stubbornness". Have you read through their requirements? There's no reason every manufacturer shouldn't meet them, but there's very little incentive for them to at the moment.

I will when it's time to choose my next device. It will highly likely be a Pinephone unless the supposed GOS OEM partner offers a device with removable battery.

Security enforces privacy. That’s why GrapheneOS is one of the most private OSs for consumers, it is secure enough to protect against many different types of vulnerabilities that protect against invasion of privacy.

PinePhone has bottom of the barrel hardware with horrible security, performance and functionality. It's far from meeting our hardware security requirements grapheneos.org/faq#future-de…). The desktop software is also a huge regression for privacy and security (xcancel.com/GrapheneOS/status/1985…).

If that's the case, nothing is secure. Everything is hackable. Would a Samsung device be less secure with a GrapheneOS fork installed. It would probably be same as stock OS. The security of stock OSes are obviously enough secure for people to use them.

NetRunner88 the personal dataleaks are probably not because of Android based is, more servers. The problem as I see it is more that the databases store the data in the first place.
