When I take a screenshot, there is a small preview of the screenshot that is displayed on the bottom left of the screen (this is expected). However, when I click on "Edit", the preview stays there for an additional 5s. The problem is that some buttons in that "Edit" section are inaccessible while the preview is there (e.g. cropping). Moreover, if I start tapping around the few accessible options (e.g. changing filters), the duration of the preview on-screen is even longer.

From my previous stock Android experience, my expectation is that, once I choose to "Edit" the screenshot, the small preview is immediately dismissed from the screen, and I can proceed with editing the screenshot without any issues.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and has identified a solution?

two questions: which app are you using to edit the screenshots? And: is that happening in your main profile or for example a work profile?

Anyone6308 I experience this bug as well. After I take a screenshot of an app, the mini-preview gets stuck o the lower left side of the screen. If I want to edit the screenshot by tapping on the "pencil" button on the mini-preview, the stuck mini-preview obstructs the "Crop" selection in the Screenshot Edit UI. Also, the stuck mini-preview doesn't disappear no matter how much I try to swipe it away out of the screen.

DeletedUser87 you should probably use the "Markup" app from the built-in App Store.

I don't want to install a Google Play app for that.

Is this bug going to be fixed?

        ErnestThornhill Because it's a mirror,

        Yes. I was thinking that.

DeletedUser87 It's in the App Store.

Alright, I take back the "google play store" thing.

However, my point still stands: "I don't want to install a new app just to quick edit my screenshots. " I would much rather prefer the screenshot editing capability in GrapheneOS working properly, as it was working before, by the way -- it got buggy in the recent updates (last year or so)

monero4freedom well, then you will have to live with the buggy version I guess. This bug is most likely upstream and I don't think that's what the devs will focus on right now when there's alternatives available (quite a few actually). The GOS team also can't provide every single functionality for every feature or app you might want. There's no built-in reminders/to-do, calendar, notes, etc.. I don't expect to get all that from GOS and adapt by installing what I need myself.

            P8P with all safe updates
            No problem for me.
Tapped "Edit", my app options appeared, the micro window disappeared, and after choosing the app, all I had on screen was the app in full with nothing overlayed

Its still there. It came the day Android 15 was rolled out. The delay is really really long, too long.
You can't swipe it away and need to wait 5 secs every single time. They should adjust this delay from 5000 to 1000. - its probably coded by mistake.

On top of this I have issues with "can't save a screen shot" every 3rd or so attempt

            DeletedUser87

Yes , it is an upstream usability bug. Highly annoying and only a very simple fix.. Smaller delay is better
But I don't know the route to aosp , I just drop it here

Uhnoes only a very simple fix

Is it? That would imply you're a well-versed Android developer. But then you don't know how to find the AOSP code?

This was literally the first search result for "AOSP". Happy fixing!

I think it is the default popup duration which can be changed in the settings somewhere. The minimum is just 10s.
This means you have to not click your screen for 10s for the default photo edit app to be fully accessible (especially the crop button, which is under the preview). Then it will disappears. If you click on the screen it will extend to the 10s all over again, or whatever your setting is.

Another "bug" seems to be that even if you click on edit/share. Let us say edit. Those two options are still there even if not visible anymore. They are therefore blocking the buttons under them.

This is actually good though, because it enables you to skip the 10s duration. You just click where "share" was, it will open a new popup for sharing, but you can just go back, and the preview will be gone.

Since the upgrade to Android 15, I've also been experiencing the issue of the screenshot preview being displayed for longer times on the screen, with the time extending when touching on certain edge areas on the screen in addition to these specific touches also not seeming to register the input to the foreground app. I have no idea why people here think it's related to editing in any way.
