Just be aware that OpenWRT offers a lot more options than a normal consumer router, without an easy mode. You need to learn network basics plus OpenWRT-specific details and read about these topics in the documentation. Be prepared to invest some time into it. It's powerful, but does not take responsibility away from the user, thus easier to mess up, if you don't know what you are doing.
