AlanRyan The info app contains information that are independent from just the release notes, and can include more in the future.

Including release notes in the updater is a separate item that can be done regardless, and would likely just show the release notes of the pending update.

cdflasdkesalkjfkdfkjsdajfd It was released just a few days ago in the Apps app just to solicit feedback and testing from the community. This 2nd release fixes the issues that were found, and it will be included with the OS with the next OS release.

OfflinePuffin Likely, but it needs to be improved first. Currently, the community and donate info is built into it but release notes are fetched dynamically. If we added the documentation, it would likely be built into it. We're a while away from being able to do that.

[deleted] You're free to disable it, and it's a tiny app. We decided to make it into an app instead of putting it into the Settings app. It can also serve the same purpose as the Pixel Tips app and similar tutorial apps in the future.

      Notable changes in version 2:

      • handle top bar title text overflow with ellipsis instead of wrapping
      • handle rename of Twitter to X and replace twitter.com with x.com
      • update AndroidX Compose UI library to 1.7.0-beta04
      • fixes for state restoration when resuming or changing configuration

A full list of changes from the previous release (version 1) is available through the Git commit log between the releases.

Releases of the app are published in the GrapheneOS app repository. You can use the GrapheneOS app repository client on Android 12 or later for automatic updates. Each release is initially pushed out through the Alpha channel, followed by the Beta channel and then finally the Stable channel.

The new 'Info' app works great. It might be more helpful to new users if features and usage page is added to the menu. Thank you!

      Come on. seriously?

I like the info app. Comes in handy.

[deleted] It only serves any use to people who are too lazy to go to grapheneos.org manually.

Or, for people who do not know about the releases page on the website.

Or, for people who are just getting started with GrapheneOS and haven't yet explored the website. Which is, strictly speaking, not necessary in order to enjoy the convenience of the OS.

Or, for people who simply want the convenience of just opening an app to read the latest news.

I personally wouldn't call this lazy behavior. But to each their own.
