E24 The other issue with Simple Calendar is they wont accept any exchange account. So I cant put my work email on because it only allows IMAP/POP.

[deleted] I have a paid version of Proton...However, their calendar really stinks. For example, sharing doesn't work half the time, and any invite that comes from a Microsoft account .ics is marked as invalid and you've got to manually download and re-upload on a PC to get the event on your schedule.

invalidemail That's why it is called "Simple" Calendar. I don't need to share on GOS 6a and I have a Pixel 6 with Android 14 only for work where I just use Google calendar. I go for personal privacy with GOS, and work requires so many things like Google Meet, Google docs, etc. I just use Android and the NSA and advertisers can data mine what I do at work, which is pretty boring. I do have Signal on the Android only phone, as well as Proton Mail, so I can make secure calls/texts/emails off it.

MoonshineMidnight Completely understood. I think you might have missed the context of the original post where I'm specifically looking for a shared cal option for GOS for family sharing. That is all I was pointing out with simple Cal and I have 7 dif cals I manage for various work/clients making the calendar option very challenging with GOS. I'm curious about your comment, are you using two different phones or are you using two user profiles (one without Google installed).

ETAR does look promising though. I've got to test out a shared cal on it but its much better UI than Simple Cal or Nine.

invalidemail Two different phones. I have a GOS 6a for anything and everything personal I do. I have a Pixel 6 running stock Android for work as the company uses Google apps for multi-party stuff. I won't allow that on my GOS phone - even on a separate user profile. And thankfully my biz phone is my own and does not have a company app so they can't see what I do, but I realize all the info is being scarfed up on it by Google and others, so I keep it strictly business (which is basic, boring stuff - not at all like a lawyer/client, doctor/patient) except with safe apps like Signal and Proton Mail on the stock Android.

Of course, for sharing, you can use davx5 with any caldav provider, including self hosted. Then use simple calendar or etar as a client.

Sorry to bring this up, I am looking for an offline alternative for a calendar app. I will be using it offline (no sharing) and I have only one requirement that I can export the events as a backup. I have been using Simple Calendar but that has changed hands and going forward I can't continue with an app without updates (future of its fork is yet uncertain). Apart from that I only heard of Etar but that won't let me export events as I would like. Does anybody know of any less well known (preferably FOSS) offline Calendars that would suit my purpose? Thanks in advance.

I'm using aCalendar.
I've bought the ad free version on my old stock Android phone, on GOS I use the free version with a block for the integrated ads.facebook.com tracker.
The functionality of this app fits simply perfect to me.

I have proton unlimited so like using their Calendar. Getting my wife and daughters to switch to that from.iOS cal is impossible so I imported the iOS family calendar into my proton cal so at least I see what they have scheduled

When I have GSF installed on my phone I was using Google calendar without network permission. Is the best IMO, but now I doesn't have GSF installed and Google Calendar doesnt work. Now I'm using ETAR

Sorry for pulling this up again, but it was the most relevant thread I could find yet.

I have similar issue. I am fresh user of GOS on Pixel8pro

I have used acalendar+ before to maintain and sync Google calendars with the family and love the functiinality.

I am now searching solutions for 2 issues:
I would like to continue with acalendar pro, but I could not manage to implement and sync it to the existing Google calendars. Sync request is already send out by acalendar and received and confirmed within Google account - but the Gcal and its entriss does not appear now in acalendar in GOS.
Is there may be any setting missing I need to do?

2nd issue or target:
Of course I want to change over from G calendar AS basis to an alternative solution giving the same functionality with shared family calendars and best with an local stored calendar which can be syncronized.
But a online calendar service allowing me to sync with acalendar (which is only a interface to maintain Android calendar as basis) would be perfect too.

I use a Synology NAS and basically use its caldav server to sync my calendar and family calendar across mine and my wife's devices. But you could do something simple on a Raspberry Pi I'm sure.

If hosting your own caldav server won't work then there used to be a free service called fruux that was essentially an online caldav server, but they seem to be defunct now. A paid alternative ($2/mo) might be https://www.etesync.com/

I got away from Google Calendar about 5 years ago and have been pretty happy about it.

Just FYI, I'm using aCalendar+ with multiple Google calendars on Graphene and it does work :-)
