darts125 This was already to a degree addressed here (timestamp included) and elsewhere in Matrix rooms when the compatibility layer was new. I think I remember reading they even ran it by Google (but don't quote me on that).
Also in their whitepaper describing The Android Platform Security Model, authors even publicly acknowledge that approaches like microG exists and people use it, but that it "may not be complete or behave differently". GrapheneOS on the other hand includes a compatibility layer to use the official unmodified releases of Google Play as sandboxed apps and their app repo just has mirrors of those to make sandboxed Google Play easy to install.
