Waze I believe is an isreali company with actual mosad people at the helm of it. I would steer clear. But it has very good traffic data, so I've heard. Never used myself.

Herewego I've heard doesn't have good privacy. Would like more info on this though.

There is no alternative to google maps' business info and perhaps traffic data. I would either run in vanadium behind VPN, or install the app in a dedicated profile with a VPN. So this way you can use it when you really need to.

      Wayz I think it's called? Is meant to be a good alternative for driving and traffic/road navigation. But for a good map, I've been using organic maps from f-droid.

      +1 for Magic Earth, I have been using it for a while now and it's pretty good. The voice navigation is less specific than others out there, but I actually turned off the voice anyway because the map navigation is pretty good on its own.

        Graphite I couldn't see one when I last looked. I emailed them directly with a question at support at magicearth.com and they replied promptly and informatively.

            Question for the Magic Earth folks out there - is there any way to get the apk outside of gplay or aurora?

            I'm hoping to use Magic Earth in one of my "cleaner" profiles that uses Obtainium / manual updates only, but I had trouble finding a way to do it.

            I am settling for Organic Maps for now, but the utility is limited for me without traffic data.

            Has anyone figured out an "off gplay / aurora" solution for live traffic navigation?

              I use Sygic via Aurora. You can buy a licence direct from them. It has live traffic, offline maps and is very battery friendly. I get the odd ad at startup to upgrade, but otherwise there are none. Graphics and directions much better than Magic Earth IMHO. I have tried Magic Earth too but found that killed my battery.

                  Used both Herewego and Gmaps extensively and I find Google maps to be a bit better at finding small, unknown places that Herewego can not find. Often, the shortest and fastest routes show on Herewego are the same whereas Google maps somehow different directions for the same place some of which are actually faster than Herewego's direction.
