Hi. I wanted to share a design "issue" with profiles (/app stores/battery).
I would like to use play services only for apps which need it.
I would like to download my apps from the most secure way. Currently, I think this is Google Play Store.
I would like to not have the Play Services in the main profile because main profile is always active I think. So google would be phoning home often AND draining battery.

Here we are, I've got us cornered.
Does someone has an idea ?

[deleted] You can't use Google Play Store without both Google Play Services and Google Services Framework installed alongside. They are highly interdependent.

Install Sandboxed Google Play in a secondary profile, and install apps which need it there.

At any time, you can use the "end session" feature to put the profile back at rest, and nothing in it will run.

        Thanks for your answer.
        I know ! You're not answering 🤨

[deleted] If you want to use Play Store in the main profile, you'll have to install it there. Not much way around it. You'll need to weigh your options there. Either Sandboxed Google Play or something like Aurora Store instead.

One option is to have owner profile as your Google Play profile.

Any apps which need to be installed from Google Play Store but do not depend on Google Play Services, you can install in your owner profile, and then clone to a Google-free secondary user profile from Settings.

            I hope this helps.

Note it's not possible to do this other way around (to clone from secondary to owner profile).

Yes, thank you. But I would like to not have the Play Services in the main profile because main profile is always active I think. So google would be phoning home often and draining battery.

Yes, yes it is a question of compromise.
Quite sad to have to choose between privacy and security :/
So I will continue to use all my apps in the proprietary profile, with Play Services and Play Store installed as a source of apps. Favoring security over privacy. And trusting graphene's google sandboxing.

[deleted] and where do you suggest me to download apps for the main profile ? ... I said it : we're stucked !

Aurora store, apk from dev or other source, f-droid. Plenty of ways to acquire apps.

There are ways to even download from play store in a different device then transfer to your phone.
