In the contacts app, there's no option for selecting all.

Would it be possible to add it?

Use case: select all contacts, delete, then import from existing .vcf file.

Not what you asked for, but if in the launcher you press and hold on "Contacts", then pick "App info", you can zorch all of your contacts -- I believe, though I haven't tried it.

This doesn't work. Contacts are saved "on device", independent of the contacts app. So even if it was uninstalled, they're still there.

I also have been looking for such a function. It would be nice having it.

I was (tentatively) suggesting "Reset storage and cache", which I am unwilling to do on my phone... but maybe you are willing on yours, if you want them all gone? I was not suggesting deleting the app.

Also wishing for a way to manage contacts ...

My contact import has multiple duplicates ... ie: same number twice for every contact. So one Contact name entry, each with two (or three) duplicate numbers ...

There obviously was a problem many years ago migrating from one phone to another .. my old phone apparently hid the duplicates by default, so I never noticed .. but Graphene Contacts does not.

Is there any app that allows for contact cleaning? ... I could install, clean contacts up, then uninstall?

Graph_Curious I think "SMS Import/Export" will dump your contacts as JSON, at which point you could manually or semi-automatically trim. But loading from that trimmed JSON file would be useful only after deleting all contacts... which we aren't yet confident about doing.

Simple Contacts Pro does have that. But although in the settings it says it supports merging duplicate contacts, I haven't learned how to do this.

Yes, I know. I tried erasing cache and storage data. That didn't work. Of course, I didn't uninstall it. I said "even if...".

This is what I'm currently using for this task.

avidgrapher Contacts are stored in the "Contacts Storage" app, delete its app data and all contacts will be gone

              a year later

              This problem is still relevant.
I exported 1k contacts with an encoding error. and now i need to delete them.
"select all" function would make life easier.
