  • Can't install GrapheneOS from P7Pro

Hello everyone,

I am trying to install grapheneos on a Pixel 7 for my brother. I am using the WebUSB installer in Vanadium.

Vanadium on my P7Pro is unable to detect the Pixel 7. But Vanadium on my older Pixel 5 detects it no problem. Both devices are up to date and I am using the same cable.

The Android system on P7Pro shows 'charging via USB' in the status area while on the P5 the Android system shows nothing.

Why is this happening?

Harald What do you see in Settings, Connected Devices, USB Preferences?

[deleted] Thank you for directing me appropriately. It seems I am not smart enough to figure out how to post in the chat room. My attempts to register keep failing but there is no feedback to describe why.

That other thread seems not relevant, because my P7Pro cannot even see the device. The issue is entirely different.

de0u I see that it is charging the connected device, there is an option for the USB to be controlled by this device or the other

Harald I think you want both devices to agree that the P7P is in control.

If you check the USB settings on the P5, which can see the P7, are they the same as the P7P's?

i just did install few days ago, here is my notes. I recommend linux everyone who are into privacy and security, i used Linux Mint and here i did a few things according the command line install instructions. https://grapheneos.org/install/cli
namely the fastboot install, test, version check and this one: echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/bus/usb/drivers_autoprobe
and i used a completely fresh installed Google Chrome and did the actual install via WebUSB-based installer. All went perfectly fine.

          6 days later

Harald If the USB settings on the P5 and the P7P are the same, but only the P5 can see the P7, the next thing I would try is a different cable, or else doing the install from a desktop machine instead. If neither of those approaches works you might need to make your way onto the Matrix channel.
