Weather: I've tried Forcastie and Geometric Weather. Geo allows to have multiple cities. Overall I prefer Geo.
ViMusic: Really great app. Its like spotify but it pulls from youtube music. all for free. Although sound quality is probably not the same. Good for casual use.
Metro: Nice looking music player.
TrebleShot: similar to ShareIt, shares files using hotspot, but only available on android.
Snapdrop: Network based file sharing.
VLC: Good video player with useful features.
Antennapod: for podcasts
Magic Earth: Best private Google Maps alternative
File Managers: (good privacy)

  • Amaze
  • FX
  • Material files

Read You: Material Design newsfeed reader.
ImagePipe: change image Res and Size and remove Exif. Not fancy.
KeepassDX: Offline password manager.
Just Player: A video player.
Calender: Simple calender and Etar. Simple is better in my Exp.

texting: qksms. a number of features that aren't in the default and i find essential.

twitter: fritter. far better than nitter in design, usability and reliability.

banana is right about aves for gallery, but beware that it has no editing features. i use some proprietary horseshit with no network access for that until i find an open source option that feels competent.

cascaderainfall Does spotube fetch its music from spotify or from youtube? I ask cause there is a difference in quality. Does it need a spotify account to get from spotify? (if it gets from spotify)

I also use Google Camera, Aegis, Bitwarden and Newpipe
SMS : Google Messages ( https://privsec.dev/posts/android/android-tips#google-messages ) if you have Play Services. If no Play Services, stay with stock SMS app.
Mail : k9 connected to posteo
Store : Play Store because privsec.dev recommends : “My recommendation is to stick with the Google Play Store unless your threat model calls for not logging into Google Services at all.“
VPN : IVPN (I use their DNS)
Maps : I STRONGLY recommend you to go away from Maps.me ( 10 trackers and 32 permissions asked according to Exodus...). Go for Organic Maps, it looks VERY similar. Alternatively, use Osmand, HereWe go, Magic Earth.

Gallery: I STRONGLY recommend using Aves Gallery because it is REALLY amazing.
Calendar : give a try to Etar ;) or pay for Simple Calendar

    ElLoco

ElLoco Is there a Spotify alternative where I can login and reproduce my Spotify playlists?

Old thread but just in case you haven’t found anything yet, or for others looking - Spotube should be definitely on the radar.

Wow, looks like you've got a solid setup with GrapheneOS! Your app choices seem well thought out. For weather, I've heard good things about "Today Weather" or "Weather Underground" – might be worth checking out. And for calendar, Proton Calendar sounds like a great choice, especially if you're already using ProtonMail.

I strongly recommend breezy weather for a weather app
