Yes, VPN. Maybe they use some shady blocklists, they used Recaptcha and after lots of issues switched to hCaptcha as if that would be the solution

Just got an email from Github this morning that a new release is out.
This release merges latest Signal v6.44.2. It features a new optimization aimed at minimizing battery consumption, specially for users of WebSockets-based notifications.
That sounds very interesting! I haven't tested it yet but if the battery consumption is lower than Signal that is a killer feature, even without setting up Mollysocket & Unified Push.
Android Auto works now also
I have now installed Molly-UP and set up Unified Push (using this free Mollysocket deployment)
In my battery stats I can see: that Signal (now uninstalled) used 10% and Molly-UP used 5% of the battery, both being 2 hours in background and <5 mins in the foreground. So that's good news :) Though not a like-for-like comparison because I didn't check Molly with Websockets.

Not the main topic of the discussion, so just a brief observation since battery consumtion was mentioned here: Signal seems to consume significantly less in my case than described here. I take a look at the battery consumption of my apps from time to time. Signal (main messenger, without FCM) accounts for 2-5℅ of my total consumption on average.
Even switching from FCM to Signal's own implementation of push notifications has not significantly increased consumption.
Although I have graphene OS on my phone, I would like to be able to use Molly when it has its own servers from my macbook. Is there any plan to release molly for MacOs, iPhone?
A good idea would be to be able to use Molly's servers to synchronize files using Signal's end-to-end encryption, I know there are alternatives like NextCloud (but they are too difficult for me to use) I would have no problem paying for this service, I'm talking file sync not saving files on molly servers
Hello. I have a weird issue with Molly. I can make calls but cant receive calls. When the app is locked, phone is locked and unlocked I only get a notification that I have a message. I dont see the calling screen to be able to take the call. When im in the app I see the calling screen and can take the call. Im running version 7.0.2-1. What is the issue? Am I the only experiencing this? Can you please address this issue and fix this? Its useless if I cant take calls. Thanks in advance.

Nuttso I am a layman. I've read the github regarding Molly-Up and socket many times and I'm stuck. Please explain how to get notifications with a locked database. So far I've installed Molly UP, Ntfy, and the socket file from the github. Whats next? I see "status: Molly socket server not found" in Molly's UP settings. I apologize if this is annoying.
Nuttso No if the database is locked, you can't take the call. It would break the purpose of having a locked database. You could set a fingerprint do you have to provide the fingerprint before picking up the call. But the database needs be open
OK. I understand. It is not possible even in the future to take calls even with database locked and at rest?
Second. Im experiencing sometimes delayed messages up to 1 day. This is not good because I get sometimes important messages that I need to be notified right away they get sent. Is this common with database locked and at rest or is it only me? I have the regular Molly FCM installed with battery optimization turned off.

Taking calls with a locked database would break the purpose of it completely.

Molly supports generic messages since a few weeks. You should receive that generic message with a locked database right away. We are not aware of any problems currently. Tell us more about your setup.

I have only experienced once with delayed message that was delayed for almost 24 hour. Other than that im very pleased with it :)
My setup is: Regular Molly FCM from Github. Version: 7.0.2-1. Databse lock ON set to immediately. Uses phone lock password. Battery optimization is turned off.
What does generic message mean? It uses FCM? If so, that have been supported a while if recall correctly?

Nuttso I've never used a matrix before. Just curious before I have to familiarize myself with and figure out how to set up yet another platform, Is there any reason why only my question can't be answered here where you've welcomed questions? I like to keep my account creation to a minimum if possible.

Typically questions involving technical help (such as your question about your server) are best sorted through realtime communication. Take 'live chat' which businesses commonly use instead of email for example.
I was wondering if Molly will support RCS in the future
