Pixel Camera App + Google Photos

Are you able to use the Pixel Camera app + Google Photos app offline with Setup of Storage scope on GOS? Or is there another way to do this properly?

Storage scopes don't have anything to do with network access.

But yes, if you disable network access for Google photos/pixel camera the apps will still work.

Psyonico I tried using the Pixel Camera, but every time I take a picture with it, to be able to see the stored pictures taken, it says I need Google Photos app to view them? Even with the Google photos app it won't let me see pictures taken. I am not using a Google profile for the Apps, and they are both offline. Am I missing something maybe?

4DKT GCam, by default, forces you to use GPhotos.

Gcam Services Provider by lukaspieper is a nifty little app that overrides those nasty settings, and lets you use the gallery of your choice. Can disable network and all permissions, nothing is required. There's a GOS-specific variant, 'photosonly'

I agree with gristle-cause recommendation. Pixel Camera works well with Gcam Services Provider (photosonly version).

A quick tip: Sometimes it takes a moment before you can view the image in your gallery app of choice—give the device a millisecond before clicking on the gallery icon in Pixel Camera to view the image.

If you want to edit the images, you can do so with the Gallery app already installed on GrapheneOS. For more extensive image editing, I can recommend ImageToolbox, and for simple video editing, Open Video Editor.

I have the pixel camera App installed without google photos.

to view the pictures I just close the camera app and use Fossify Gallery to view my photos or any other Gallery App for that matter.

I believe there is a shim (not made by GOS) on github that tells the Pixel camera App to use any Gallery App. I cannot say much about it, as i dont use that shim.

gristle-cause be aware though, that this will not open the gallery in the lockscreen. For this you can use the version from Calyx Institute (GCam Photos Preview), as they implemented a work around. It opens only a simplistic gallery but that works for me and is more important to have any option when taking picture without unlocking the phone.

gristle-cause Ok I see. The only problem I am having now is trying to download that "photosonly" apk. I keep getting a "Downloaded package ID does not match existing app ID - com.google.android.apps.photos [Gcam-Services-Provider]". I am downloading it via Obtanium.

Wait, doesn't post-processing happen in Google Photos after you take a picture with Pixel camera?

I always thought it makes no sense to use Pixel camera without GPhotos because of that.

I am having an issue with Gcam Services Provider (photosonly version), in that it the gallery just opens for a second when I press the preview after taking a photo with Pixel Camera and then closes, and I have to press the preview many times before the gallery stays open. Anyone experience this?

Edit: I have it set to always open in the built in gallery app

For me, this only happens (as described above) when I click on the photo preview very quickly (<= 1 sec.). Then I get an error message saying “Failed to load media.” If I wait a moment and then click, it works without any errors.

Murcielago for me, it doesn't make a difference if I wait or not. And I don't get any error messages, the gallery (and the selected photo) opens for less than second then closes back to Pixel Camera. If I just pepper the preview image, eventually the gallery stays open. On some occasions the gallery stays open at first try, but with a black/empty image.

I'm on the same versions as you.
Except that I'm using the built in gallery app. Will try fossify Gallery soon.
Edit: It works as you describe with fossify gallery. Strange that the built in gallery malfunctions
