I did a quick search and didn't find this suggestion (correct me if I'm wrong please).

As the title says, an easier way to disabled/enable apps (similar to a Freeze/unfreeze on Shelter) would be appreciated for people like me that don't use multiple user profiles but still want to use invasive apps temporarily.

Example: Having Instagram disabled, with a quick shortcut/toggle I can open it (enabling it), and when I close it it would automatically (or with another click, or timer) disable it again 🙏

PTopSecret you can do Settings>Apps, find the app a select it. There is a Disable button there.

I guess the issue for PTopSecret is to be able also enable the app, which when disabled, doesn't appear in app drawer, neither in app list. and one has to go to setttings/ apps, select "disabled" and then click the app and enable it.
A shortcut for disabled app in app drawer would be helpful for these cases.

Did you ever find a solution to this?

I switched my primary phone to graphene os a few weeks ago. I originally planned on separating my 'main apps' and then media and social apps into separate profiles, then a third for work apps, but am finding I am finding the switching between main and social and media apps has been excessive.

lilluidicris I did not, I guess the best option would be to use shelter, but for me I just got used to disable/enable the apps manually

+1 for a feature like this.
Where can I promote such a feature request?

There is no reason, an app I use only sometimes should run all the time. Saves memory and battery.
You can also disable messenger apps is you want to be offline and don't get new messages.

I used Apps like AirFrozen and other on rooted devices, but I think it would be more secure if this is a feature of the OS and not a third party app.

The method via "Settings -> Apps" works, but its not that convenient.

PTopSecret Add a shortcut to instagram.com to your desktop from Vanadium. It works basically the same way as the app.
